Red Angel is probably Wicked Weed's best beer, IMO.
And Atrial Rubicite is Jester King's best beer, without a doubt.

The combination makes me totally get why people would line up for this, and I hope to get a taste of a bottle at some point, somewhere.

But lately I've found that collaborations seem to be less exciting than beers made by just one of the breweries. I can't judge Red Atrial before I've had it, but it also wouldn't shock me if reviews said that it was good but not as good as either of the two I mentioned above.

Anyone else feel this way about collabs lately?

I actually like it when breweries work with local businesses not even related to beer. Jester King actually does this a LOT...

-Collaborating with Revolution Spirits to make spirits from their spent fruit. Or that RU-55 barrel-aged gin.

-Collaborating with Buddha's Brew for a combination of their sour beer (Uberkind) and Buddha's Brew kombucha.

-Collaborating with the Salt Lick BBQ/Franklin BBQ for smoked beers.

*If the line at my local store in less than 20 people deep on Black Friday for BCBS, I'll get out of my car and line up.

when will you be driving by to check? might want to hurry if 20 is your cutoff. might be past that already.

Typical Collaboration:
  • Brewer #1 makes exceptional East Coast IPAs.
  • Brewer #2 makes incredible mixed ferment saisons and farmhouse styles.
  • Collaboration Beer - Smoke rauch Berliner aged on roasted sausage and cherries in a cement egg. 4 pp $35

-Collaborating with the Salt Lick BBQ/Franklin BBQ for smoked beers.

If getting shot in the face doesn't take you down, I'm guessing 6 bottles of tomers and a turkey leg won't either.

My plan is to drink at least 2 bottles worth on Friday.

Speaking of cement eggs, Adam from the Stone wasn't bad, but I can't really see the point of the concrete fermenter other than as a gimmick.

Agreed. I've had maybe 2 or 3 Tired Hands beers fermented in their egg, and they just kind of tasted like rocks. Which I guess is fine, if you're that rock biter guy from The Never Ending Story. But otherwise, I don't see the appeal.

Ive done 4 tomes in a sitting before and managed to use a can of heady and a reuben as a palate cleanser. Things got fuzzy towards the end but im all about 1-upping prior experiences... we shall see. Its outta my hands, the ball is in my wife's court. She better not let us down.

Big time HOTD Adam fan here because I like to pretend that Alan made that beer in my honor. Anyway, tossing that beer in the stone thing totally wrecked that beer in my opinion. I have drank through all sorts of batch/age variations of Adam that varied from amazing to just ok. Adam from the stone was the only adam ive ever drain poured to the extent that I dont even want to try other beers that got the stone treatment.

Wife's going to get a headache, not even finish her first glass.
