It's awful English syntax, and it sounds really bad off the tongue. "Crafted to reduce gluten" would imply that the product itself has been designed to "reduce gluten" when used or applied. Like, "pouring this beer over a loaf bread lowers the gluten content of the bread" or something like that. What they really mean is something more like "Crafted to contain reduced gluten levels."

That's without even getting into the obnoxiously pretentious use of the word "crafted". Why not just "brewed"?

It's honestly not bad. Tastes like a regular Stone IPA (now whether you like that or not is a different story). It's made with barley rather than sorghum or those other weird gluten free ingredients.

I'll take .394 against better competition (minorities, international players) instead of .406 against lesser competition.

Scary thing is, Ted Williams was one of the slowest runners of all time. Dude prolly would have hit .420 if he had average speed. . .

Nonetheless, the year Gwynn hit .370 and stole 56 with that neckbeard belly is a testament to athleticism not being wrapped up in a svelte body. Thank you. . .

Please for the Love of God don't **** with Moonlight Brewing, some of the best lagers I've ever had in the states (Realty Czech and Death & Taxes jump to mind).

Fundraising space at the Chicago location? First I've heard of this and I've got pretty good connections to the Midwestern Lagunitas folks.

I still can't believe that Tony McGee doesn't want to just ride off into the sunset, get high, play blues and enjoy his golden years.

I just thought it a testament to the fact that baseball players aren't required to be athletic.

Are you people really arguing about batting average? What is this, 1988?

This is not to **** on Tony Gwynn but there's ZERO comparison between his 0.394 year and Williams' 0.406. First and foremost, Gwynn didn't even play a full season, as the strike cut 1994 off in mid-August. While you could argue more time would give him more opportunities to break 0.400, but the more likely result would be Gwynn regressing to his mean.

Second, Gwynn's OPS that year was an impressive 1.022 (OPS+ of 169, for historical comparisons), but for batting almost 0.400, that's not terribly high. He was on pace for around 45 doubles and 15-16 HRs. Good hitting season but not exactly putting up power numbers.

Williams in 1941, though, is ******* OBSCENE. Dude didn't just hit 0.406 by slapping singles around. Dude hit a dinger every 5th hit, had an OPS of 1.287 (that's juiced-up-Bonds level ****) with an OPS+ almost 70 points higher than Gwynn in '94. 10.6 bWAR compared to Gwynn's 4.2. Easily one of the top 10 best hitting seasons of all time. And the funniest part: Williams didn't win the AL MVP that year. DiMaggio did, even though Williams had better stats in every category that matters:

Basically: **** the Yankees, especially in the first half of the 20th century.

E: I will concede the "Williams didn't play in an integrated era" argument, but the disparity between those two seasons doesn't get explained away that way.
