People in Michigan treat Project Pam like it is some kind of awesome. Isn't that a black IPA with syrup?
Founders loves black IPAs for some reason. The fact that they had enough maple barrels to make a large batch that could have been CBS, but decided to fill the barrels with Dark Penance instead is pretty absurd.

Speaking of founders, KBS is hitting taps here in Aus this week. I'm generally indifferent to launch events and imperial stouts but I'll probably head along and tick it.

It better be worth it.

Tell a friend who I thought had a better understanding of beer that I didn't know what to bring to a share I'm going to. "Why not bring that raspberry Boulevard?"

Maybe because I'd like to go to more shares with them?

The crowler fill at the brewery is anywhere from $5.50-$8.00 depending on the beer plus $2 for the can. I have no experience paying for crowlers and this seems... alright?

Our local brewery doesn't charge **** for the crowler, and the price of the growler changes based on the base beer. Charging for the can is dumb.

Pretty sure they re-filled the barrels after pulling out the last round of CBS. Hence Pam having virtually no maple presence. That's what I am going to tell myself they did at least.

It's not. But if you can drink it without too much headache or fanfare it's pretty solid. I haven't been impressed with the last two years of it.

If it was a shelf beer, everyone would talk about how underrated and slept on it is. If it went as fast as something like enjoy by (no one leaves work early, but folks grab it if it's around) it would be exactly as good as the hype. As it stands, people in this area will drive or wait in line for hours to get it, and it's not worth that at all. It's as good as things like BA thirsty dog and hoppin frog beer, both of which sit on the shelves near me. (All, of course, IMO)

I don't think you can even get a 4 pack in Asheville. People drive around town buying a bottle or two from all the shops. Seems like a waste of time and effort when they could just get some Big Bad Baptist at the grocery store. Of course, these are many of the same people who are going to wait 6 hrs to get 2 bottles of Schnozzberry, so they can't place much value on their time.

I take it you're not going to that release? ;)

Also Big Bad Baptist (since Gabe mentioned it) has been leaps and bounds better than KBS every time I've had them in close time proximity to each other over the past couple of years. It's also better than most limited release stouts of the same style, not just KBS. No one gives a **** about it either, so weird.

I think $2 for the can is fair. Store around here charges $1.50, but I'll usually just fill a growler if I remembered to bring one.

That's also a pretty good price for 32oz of growlered beer.
