That guy has since come back a apologized a bit. St. Louisans tend to get defensive about stuff (I realize I am doing just that), mostly because the city gets **** on a lot. Sometimes it's called for, most of the time it isn't. There are profiteering ******** everywhere, the "STL traders are shitlords" thing is played out. Can't we all agree to just **** on Florida? :D
Half of the bad St Louis rap is actually FIBs hoarding & muling Side Project. Another factor is they probably get tired of only ISO: SP. perennial, 4 hands, & 2nd shift all put out multiple trade worthy beers but they get overshadowed.

I actually made a great IP trade using that FB group. I also got numerous "offers" of random "limited" beers only ISO BCBS variants.

It's all in good fun. It takes a ground swell of generous BIFing to knock down those stereotypes. At least I think it helped with FIBSs. Not sure, maybe we're still the worst.

Too ******' lazy to screenshot for full effect- but the ****** bags rated Lord Hobo's Boom Sauce an 87. To say that any beer Lord Hobo has produced is better than Trillium's worst beer would be a bold faced lie. C'mon now...

Now that batch sizes are going up and 2nd batches of the fruited stuff are coming out hopefully the death grip starts to loosen. In the past it has been genuinely hard to get beer, even for the locals, but that may change with the new brewery. I don't have any hard feelings towards FIB's, just jealousy over the ability to drop what you are doing on a Thursday afternoon and drive five hours for 4 375ml bottles of beer;)

caveat emptor: the people usually clamoring to send you **** are usually like some obscure 7bbl 5 tap handle brewery outside of Birmingham that SWEARS their crystal laden IPA has the locals losing their **** more than trans-bathroom debates.

then you have a hot dilemma of:
1) accept something knowing you are likely gonna beat up on it OR
2) respectfully decline and look like a prick.

for every one of those boxes your cordially accept, dipshits will be like MAN U SOLD OUT, even if you **** that brewery up and provide exposure with an even hand. Because trading for ****** beer and panning it is more noble

wait what ******* forum am I in right now

I'm simultaneously jealous and dumbfounded people send you free beer just so you can review it.

I should become a beer reviewer and hound instagram for free porch bombs.

Even the esteemed dontdrinkbeer came to Santa Ana for Good Beer. Dude in Florida may have wanted us to ship him beer.

I can say with great pride that I'm from STL and I've never had the desire to step foot in Side Project's doors and/or attempt to drink their beers. The whole situation is just way too over the ******* top for my old, basic ass.

And for me, I will admit to FIBing the **** out of Michigan, and even then, I have memberships for most of that nowadays, I am just not all that into Side Project and Perennial.

That would require you to get off your lawn.

I'm perfectly content on my lawn, drinking shelf saisons.

I can't imagine an actual trip to Side Project (to drink, not wait in line for bottles) would be all that bad. They've got a pretty solid tap list of beers. No idea if it gets crowded or not but I'm guessing the people looking to flip bottles aren't going regularly for draft pours of their regular saisons or to drink Sierra Torpedo and FW Pivo.

Outside of company functions, I think I've gone to a bar to drink maybe twice in the last year or so. I'd rather take the money that I'd piss away at a bar and spend in on a fresh steak from the butcher shop, a couple nice bottles of saison, and sit outside in my backyard.

Just going to the SP Cellar is where its at. I've had some of the best service I've ever experienced from a bar there and his wife and crew runs that place great. Plus they only add $5-10 to the cost of their bottles, which makes it a hell of a lot easier to try them compared to trying to trade for them.

While the releases can be a nightmare, the Cellar is a great place. It's not cheap, but they've got 3 SP beers on tap now and 4 SP bottles for on-site including Fuzzy and Derivation 5. It can get crowded, but most of the time I can walk in and get a seat at the bar. The staff is great too! They also have a nice whiskey list.

So much this. Bars just irritate me.
