Founders Imperial Stout is a great example of a standard American imperial stout, one of the best of its style.

Why the **** they don't put it in barrels and release that instead of putting out barrel aged black IPAs I have no idea.
Haven't had Project Pam yet. I just can't support the $13+ bomber game from Founders right now. Too many beers that I walked away saying "$10 dollar four pack, **** ya. $13 bomber, booo".

As a 12 year old I drank a bunch of this, I paid people to go in the offy(liqour store) to buy it for me. I loved it.

Never given it a thought in 25 years, until this.

Pear beer, what a concept. This is great.

Other Pear beer? Potentially ISO.
So there's this really great beer that Sierra Nevada just released, has pear in it...

I thought Otra Vez was good, haven't really heard a non hyperbolic account about why anyone hates it so much (here). People on reddit were on about how it's not salty/sour enough (SN says it's more along the lines of traditional gose, not more extreme American versions).

I thought it was refreshing and enjoyable, although I'm not sure why they timed its release to market right now instead of in 5 months when a beer like that would be more desired.

Tasted like a more traditional German-style gose such as Leipziger, but with some citrus and what to me resembled cucumber, which is probably how the prickly pear came through to my palate. I'd have no problem crushing them in the South Carolina summer.

1) Mix equal parts Otra Vez and Westbrook/Old Pro Gose

2) ??????

3) Profit!

Funnily enough I was thinking about this at the store earlier, I'll have to find a can of WB Gose around and try it. They didn't have any in the singles section of my local grocery store, but did have Otra Vez so I'm going to give it another round with a full pour to work through.

Second impression, working through a whole bottle rather than just a sample pour:

On the balance I really enjoy it. There's a slightly grainy aroma and aftertaste (although funnily enough, not in every sip) that doesn't quite work for me, but it's hardly off-putting. The main flavor this time is coming across as a salted watermelon and that's really pleasant. But as mentioned before this should be a summer beer and not something that's released in January.

Well Creature Comforts just ****** up their ticketed release...

Wouldn't let people buy tickets who didn't have a promo code, even though that was suppose to be removed at 1pm... but it wasn't removed till like 1:05pm, yet all the tickets had sold out or something like that at that point. Not really sure what happened.

I was just going to post the same thing but with a :p. That just means Georgia and Creature Comforts are catching up with other breweries! Can't have the hype without the butthurt. Hell, for #newmoney the chances of butthurt increases the hype. And it's not like you (and I) didn't get a ticket:rolleyes:.

I think I have a FFF Pear Bear if you want it.

A friend brought a bottle of that over one day and we were all LOLFFFSOUR and ready to finish a third of it before our stomachs melted. But holy **** if that stuff doesn't taste like the syrup in canned pears.

Plus acid.

But it's crazy pear flavored.
Had the same experience recently.. Wasn't expecting it at all.

That **** tasted like a liquid green apple jolly rancher to me. But that was the draft version.

I just saw someone describe a beer as tasting like a buttery Crooked Stave beer - and then continued to say that it was awesome. I just don't understand...people actually like that flavor in beer?

Might come from the fact that butteriness is often considered a good flavor in chardonnay? (FWIW I prefer less buttery chards, maybe because I’m a beer person first…)

Some of the boysenberry beers I've had end up tasting like buttered toast with jam on it with an almost-oily mouthfeel. I'm not sure if that's the fault of the brewer or just how boysenberries turn out in beer, but I could understand why some people think it desirable.

I've never tasted diacetyl in Crooked Stave beers, and I've drank a lot of Crooked Stave in the past year. So what they are calling "buttery" is probably not an off flavor or anything. People have weird descriptions of flavors and there's no accounting for people's palates.

I think he meant it was a buttery version of a Crooked Stave beer, not necessarily that it was a CS beer that tasted buttery.

I thought it was a widely-acknowledged that Crooked Stave had some diacetyl issues here and there, but I think it was more prevalent a year or two ago.
