Currently, what is the oldest beer in your house?

Facebook reminded me that 10 years ago today I bought a case of Guinness' 250th Anniversary Stout. I actually still have one bottle around for I guess novelties sake.

But I believe the oldest beer I have in the house is a 2007 Dogfish Head Olde School Barleywine.

'07 3F OG. Got it for my son's birth year. Unfortunately it has the synthetic cork so it's probably vinegar by now.

i bought a case of 1994 sam adams triple bock on mbc for some hilariously low price like $100 shipped like 5 years ago or something. i bought this with the express intent that late into bottle shares i like to bring one out for the lols. they're like half nuclear sludge in each bottle now. i think i still have like 5 or 6. i don't keep my speadsheet as up to date anymore, because i just don't care to.

and i actually really like triple bock. i am a broke dick beer connoisseur.

I have a bottle of Westy of an indeterminate age, based on the cap it's mid-80's to early 90's. So either that or a 1990 JW Lees depending on how old the Westy actually is...

I'm curious what jedwards answer would be.

In the actual house (well, apartment) right now it's a 1983 Courage I was going to open on my birthday but, uh, forgot to. In the cellar it's 1869 (Bass Ratcliffe).

Might as well share the post since it’s not friends only....

Awesome that the new PNC beer is going to be dedicated to Bonney. I'll definitely have to walk over to Toronado Seattle for some when it was releases.

I had Broken Elevator at Brouwers a few years ago during Zwanze Day and thought it was pretty amazing. PNC #3 was no slouch, either. Such an easy bottle release at Bottleworks back in the day.

If you like Triple Bock you probably haven't had one in the last 5 years.

Woof.

TB quality is essentially entirely dependent on storage (and on not being the 1997 bottling, as far as I can tell). 94/95 bottles that were stored cool on their sides are actually pretty great, but since none were stored this way in distribution they're nearly impossible to find. SA brings some of the last of their house-cellared 1994 bottles to Big Beers in CO every year and they're still a treat. My notes from a 2015 tasting where we'd gotten our hands on well-cellared and poorly-cellared versions: https://www.talkbeer.com/community/threads/cellared-beer-reviews.23197/page-10#post-820165

The synthetic cork thing is overblown, I've had fine bottles that have it and bad bottles that don't.

Can I invite myself over when you open that bad boy?

I’m not sure which of the three is the actual oldest bottle but I have a JK Black Metal and Thrash Metal, both with silver cap so they’re around 2011 and I have a 2011 Boulevard Chocolate Ale from the infected batch. I don’t know what to do with any of these bottles so they just sit there.

Probably something from the 70s. The 1870s, that is.

Damn, so close yet so far...

a couple months ago i drain poured like 6 cases of garbage like this.

it felt so good.

Whenever I think "****, i have no idea whats in the back of my fridge right now" its always Bourbon County from like 5 years ago, for which I have a "must drink immediately upon thinking about" policy.

So 5 year old Bourbon County I guess would be the oldest.

Mine is probably a Beatification from either 2014 or 2015. I drank almost all of my older stuff when I moved up to Portland, and stopped buying stuff to "cellar." I don't need to start collecting beers again.
