So, apparently RR Sanctification has suddenly become a 4.75% beer after always being 6.75% (or something- did not look it up)

Also this batch is listed at $5 a bottle. Usual price is $10.

I am confused to **** on this one.

Does it taste the same? If so, that's a helluva good price.

My friend was at RR recently and he was saying they have 3Ls of sanctification for $65 but that it was a different beer than normal. He said it was a non-lacto version. I can’t see why that would create such a big price change. But maybe it’s not aged in barrels or something?

I know plenty of times breweries have revisited/rebrewed something they made previously that was considered a “whale” to the community but I had never imagined logging on to facespace after several days away and seeing an advertisement for flaming fury being sold “below cost.”

filing for chapter 11 with plans to double production this year and open new taprooms, "as well as continuing the 24 year tradition of big, full-flavored, high quality beers that push boundaries"?

confused.

Seems like the Bankruptcy filing is technical detail associated with the change in ownership.

This is the last step in the process to investment. We were hoping to get through without entering Chapter 11, but the group of investors that we’re working with felt that it was necessary in order to move forward quickly.

Probably allows them to shed some debt and/or possibly eliminate some minority equity partners.

A bit more explanation in this one but the real ******* lol moment was this bit:

"
Most of Weyerbacher’s financial issues stem from a 2014 expansion project that cost $2 million and included the addition of a 40-barrel brewhouse. Over the years, however, the company dealt with increased competition — particularly in the pumpkin beer category — as it struggled to grow sales and pay down debt.

“We were expecting to see double-digit growth for a number of years … and with the market saturation that happened in pumpkin and all of those other things, that just didn’t pan out,” he said."

Death by reliance on pumpkin beer. 2019 is just an incredible sign of the end of times.

Speaking of... Is Southern Tier getting a lift in sales now that their sticky sweet flavored stouts are no longer considered gauche in this new pastry stout economy?

That's a good point. While they are still churning out new pasty stouts (in cans no less) they are also putting out Hazy IPAs and even a Light Beer.

Have been slowly introducing my Corona and Bud Light loving brother to decent stuff over the past decade. Seemed to be making little to no progress which was fine with me. Drink what makes you happy.

He shows up at a family gathering on Sunday with a 4pk of SoS.

Five minutes later.......

"I'm going to Treehouse next weekend. Guys I work with trade their northeast IPAs for all sorts of stuff."
