Random Beer Thoughts

My parents are big beer fans and they both use Untappd. It's become a running joke with my friends that my Dad often tags me (along with my Mom) in his checkins even when I'm not drinking with them. Anyway, they're going to be in Australia for the next month and my Dad's first check-in in Sydney yesterday? He tags me.

I'm kinda tempted to give him my login info so he can actually check a beer in on my account, cause you know, I'm apparently with them.

My buddy went to Alpine yesterday with a growler. He chose to use it as a water jug in the evening, instead of filling it with their beer.

i recently purged about 4 dozen growlers from all over the country. i realized i hadn't used them since filling up everything i could with clean water while prepping for hurricane harvey. in hindsight, the amount of carboys i still have will provide sufficient storage should the need arise again.

there was a weird hesitancy to throw them in the recycling. i don't know why, but i guess there was some emotional attachment i cannot place for those ****** HF wine bottle 750 growlers from the early early HF days or "yeah that's the NEBCO one that i got a fuzzy baby ducks in when it was like, a big deal man".

in reality i was storing garbage in my closet.

I got a sixer of Windows Up at my local liquor store the other day and was pleasantly surprised. It's definitely not up to their previous level, but it's better than the fake Nelson/Duet were.

River bend had posted a while back that they were looking for a graphic designer to do some work for them. I’d love to hear the pitch. “So you see, no hear me out, we want some fudge to really plow a raspberry. Like seriously nail it. Can you do that?”

It's funny because it's been for-*******-ever since I'd heard anything about HotD, but when that **** is on it's ******* spectacular. I guess I should put up an ISO, I'd love to have a few bottles.

Same here. I am going to a concert/visit a friend in Portland at the end of March, so I will ask him to grab me a few. I don't even know if they sell out anymore on these releases.

I doubt it will sell out soon. I feel like when I was there a year ago, HotD hade like half a dozen offerings released over the preceding six months. Everyone in PDX is going elsewhere these days.

In Brown Ale news I was at a restaurant/bar last night and the printed taplist they had Bell's Best Brown Ale listed. Thinking of this thread I ordered one. Waitress returns and tells me that keg kicked but to my surprise they tapped another brown ale. (Lonerider Sweet Josie) So I ordered that. A fine beer.

Southern Tier stopped distro here in Austin 2-3 years ago and I don't think anyone has noticed because Pumking and Warlock have never stopped turding shelves.

Sent a msg to my buddy that does the beer buying for a store. He said that the 500ml format came out last year and this is just old product that has been sitting in the warehouse and that what you were seeing mostly this past year on shelves was the 2017 overstock being sold to accounts. He said that they sent him some 2014 Warlock last year...2014.
