I never said anything of the sort. All I said was I'm surprised it took them this long to do this sort of thing and that I think (no actual idea) that maybe their sales are declining which could result in them doing this kind of thing now.
Dogfish Head is killing it right now, fyi, grew volume in 2018 by 18%. That's pretty impressive considering how big they are. I think they probably do these limited releases for locals, a bit of an attention grab, and probably most of all as an outlet of enjoyment for their brewing team, who otherwise are churning out SeaQuench, 60 Minute, and soon to be Slightly Mighty in very large quantities.

Think of it like Allagash. You think they do single barrel coolship releases for money or relevance? 80% of their production is White. They do that stuff for the above mentioned reasons.

If you want to accuse Dogfish of trying to drum up sales you should cite their Liquid Truth Serum IPA and Lupu-Luau IPA. Both are going for the juicy/hazy customers.

I had PtY back in 2012 before Russian River left WA. Curious how I'd respond to it now.

Had my first beer since going off metronidazole (ever since having open heart surgery, whenever I go to the dentist for a cleaning I now have to take a crazy antibiotic regimen) and did not throw up on anyone. Hooray!

I believe they call this burying the lede. Got to stay off those JRPGs my dude.

I'm drinking a PseudoSue because TG decided to come to NY instead of all those flyover states inbetween Iowa and NY. So drinkable.

Curious if you guys experience any batch inconsistencies. Here in Wisco some batches were great and others... were not. It was enough of an issue that I stopped buying them.

It was also a bit ago, so maybe they worked it out.

I'll keep an eye out for future shipments. I'll probably never buy another 4-pack because it's $15+ and there are enough comparable local options for less than that. I basically bought it for the tikk

Have wanted to try Pliny the Younger since I got into beer. Came across it today.

Meh. I don’t think I like DIPA, IIPAs really. Or at least only rarely.
Looks like this is going to be more widely available now that they have a second location. My local pub, which has barely been open a year and has no personal relationship with Russian River, just announced they were tapping a keg today.

Lucky for me, I'm in Columbus

I’m in PDX right now. It’s all over and there are kegs that are being held for up to 2 weeks supposedly. Should be able to get your fix.

Belmont didn’t even have a line. Maybe 10 ppl in there

They didn't have a line last time they tapped it, but I'm not home until Sunday, so I'm expecting it will all be gone by then.

I thought DFH was the only brewery trying to make a buck on gimmicky ********?

Is there the same level of interest in PtY anymore? I mean, it’s clear!

Hehe. I had surgery back in the Fall of 2017. Ran 10 miles on a Saturday, was in the ER and then cardiac ICU two days later. Bum mitral valve decided to regurgitate and I can no longer run them half marathons.

Still a big deal in the general vicinity of the brewery, but maybe the vicinity is why. There were lines at both locations everyday. We kept an eye on them and ended up going to the new Windsor spot last Wednesday afternoon and waited 10-15 but a rainstorm probably helped us out a bit in that department. It was my first time going to RR for PtY in six years living out here because lines were like 3+ hours all the time in recent years.

Lots of spots in the Bay Area didn't advertise their tappings, but the ones that I was aware of, which is really just Toronado, did. I know people back in Philly line up for it, too, but probably a lil bit less than they used to.

Since Philly-area gets PtY there are plenty of opportunities to try it.

My first time having it a local bar tapped it when they opened at 11am. I left work and went there for lunch. Was it good? Yes. But the memorable part was that the bar was not crowded at all and it was just the regulars that happened to be there. In particular one dude next to me had a Miller High Life poured into a glass with ice.

Snowbirds 1&2 were delicious.

If a place in the area tapped PtY here, I’d make a special journey. I’m not a massive TIPA fan these days but I’d liken it to The Rolling Stones playing in your local theater. If you’re not a massive fan but you’re in the area, you’d go and pay your respects

I'd definitely go again if we still had Russian River in WA. Glad I got it to try it at Last Drop Bottle Shop in 2012.
