As the father of a five year old who goes to breweries all the time with me, parents who don't watch their kids at breweries drive me insane. Same with dog owners who don't watch their dogs and drunk people who break ****.

How about your watch your damn kid? My daughter has been to breweries all over the world and has never once caused a scene and we've never been kicked out. It's not hard.
Chuck's just posted similar rules.... It's sad that it needs to be a 'rule' when it really should be common sense.

A couple years back I saw a kid playing with the chain for rolling up the bay doors at Fremont. Her parents had their backs turned, drinking away and talking to friends. She decided it would be fun to twist around with it and eventually tied herself into a noose and was dangling off the ground. They still didn't notice...

Seriously. People who don't watch their kids suck regardless of where you are. Even on the playground you should be watching your kids. It's always the unsupervised kid whose parent is playing on the phone that tries to hit my kids or just bugs the **** out of us.

We don't go to Fremont Brewing after 5pm because it often turns into a free for all where parents are too busy drinking beer and trying to look cool to actually watch their kids who are running everywhere.

I'm not saying my daughter is perfect, but she sits with me and draws or play with toys or something. If we're sitting outside and there's room she might dance next to the table, but she's never bothered anyone.

Both of mine get iPads w/headphones. No regrets.

Kids have this innate ability to get into the **** the moment you stop looking. Even if you are not that type of ****** parent, but it is even further compounded when you are that idiot at the brewery not watching your kid.

Brewery near me has tons of kids all the time there, Barebottle. Also dogs, food trucks, lots of areas to get hurt, etc. There is a certain level of kids shenanigans to be dealt with, before and after having my own. For the most part they are kept under control. I heavily medicate mine and the iPhone with some kid app or Baby Einstein video to watch.

Remember that old rocking back and forth bike toy that Fremont had (they still have it, just no longer available for public use)? I'm amazed no one killed themselves on it. Hell, I've got a picture of me during Tour de Pints years ago in the old taproom space double-fisting Bbomb and Snugglebunny on it.

Entitlement is a bitch, ain't it? SO many people who don't have the capacity to accept that they are the problem, not someone else.

Breweries can be dangerous depending on where you go too. I few of the smaller ones have their tasting room right in the brewery around here. Can you imagine if your kid started playing with the brewing equipment or touching the brew kettles/fermentation vessels.

"ooh, let's play submarine! lemme start turning this! Yay!"

Upright is set up like that in the basement of a building and you can bring kids in.

My family is good friends with the owners of Crux in Bend so my daughter is used to being around the fermenters, kettles, etc. and knows to leave them alone. [shrug]

Not only that but there are LOTS of very strong chemicals for cleaning around breweries.

Barebottle
Sounds sexy.

Hahahahaha

They posted a picture of it awhile back so they definitely have it still. That thing was equal parts rust and spring.

are we not the generation of kids that grew up in taverns?

or is that just a Wisconsin thing?

we used to hustle money off the drunks, play video games & pool and drink soda until our eyes bled then run amok in/around the bar pretty much every weekend.

never recall a single incident with a barkeep or patron asking us to leave. we were entertainment as i recall.

maybe these hoity toity new joints with the DINKs need to mix in a couple stabbings with their tapas to get a dose of reality.

Kids aren't allowed in tavens in WA.

Matt has mentioned it on the NW BA forum recently, too.

And it was never bolted to the ground which always puzzled me.

Decent article about beer pricing.

Also, any self-proclaimed beer expert that says, "It’s just a lot more expensive to brew beer than it used to be." is not as expert as you think he is.

At that price, they’re essentially proclaiming their beer to be among the best in the world. Consumers are bound to be disappointed, perplexed or worse.

I see he's apparently not familiar with the mindset of most brewers with regard to their own product if this is shocking.
