I've never been fully on board the JK train. The early stuff was really bad, especially the "FARMHOUSE ALL THE THINGS!!!" beers. Basically the only beers from them that are consistently great are the fruited saisons.

(Apparently lots of other people think this too.)
If we're talking about the fruited saisons, as in Detritivore, I agree. If you're talking about the Atrials of the world, those are often good, but have had some issues.

The ones I've had have been good. The combination of their artwork literally giving me cancer and being so hit-or-miss means I only ever try them when other people trade for them.

Well, if one brewery can actually claim that title...

Serious question, though: has Hill ever done a Belgian style that wasn't saison-inspired? Not that I don't think he could do a great job with them, but I don't know of a Golden, dubbel, tripel, etc. from HF.
I had a Leaves of Grass that was a Belgian inspired brown ale. Half the bottle gushed out as soon as it was opened, and it tasted awful.

Their business model for a long time was just open up Farmhouse Ales, do whatever it said and insist they came up with this like they unearthed deep secrets of Wallonia. Then they hopped on board the fruit saison train. Now it seems like they are trying to come up with their own ideas and they are garbage.

While I have had some good beers from JK I do not care for their business model of pretending they are doing something nobody else is and blaming customers for their problems.

Genuinely curious what the last part of that statement is referring to. I have only been going to/drinking Jester King for a couple years, so it could predate me, but that's the first I have heard of them blaming customers for anything.

They were mad people were going through the lines more than once.
it blows my mind that this is still a problem at some breweries. places like HF take down your info upon purchasing bottles, also brown paper ticket sales prevent this.

7:30pm. Thursday could be an option too. We just gotta pick our car up real quick (already booked) after we land.

It will literally take you 3.5 minutes to walk from your gate to the rentals.

Lol, you have no idea what you're getting into.

Also, PM me your number for dick pics so you two will recognize me at the glory hole

**** that why do they need to know and retain my name and info? There's no reason to collect that. Take my cash and leave the transaction at that.

I know. But it doesn't mean you can't choose to try and limit the proliferation of such information if you desire to.

You have given them cash EVERY visit?

As far as I remember, yeah.

yup its pretty ****** to say the least, it's way too easy to gain information on someone nowadays simply with just their name or email. even if you don't have a cell phone or facebook it doesn't matter.

sorry i wont derail this thread, something something something canned ipa's.

Wait, so Hill Farmstead went from being cash only for anything to only taking cards for their limited stuff?

Weird.

New Glarus was scanning ID's this weekend for the same reason, because beer folks have a tendency towards shitheaded behavior as kindly asking patrons to adhere to a "daily limit" wasn't working with folks trying to game the system.

It's a sad reminder of where this hobby has gone in recent years.
