I think the Venn diagram of people that don’t like Malort and don’t like grapefruit juice perfectly lines up.

If you haven’t finished a bottle of Malort with friends in about half an hour you’ve probably never worked in the service industry. :)

Love grapefruit juice. Malort is vile. Don't even see the connection. Malort is more hint of nasty Black Crows candy and vomit after a 2 day bender.

You think Malort tastes similar NZ Sauv Blanc?

Yeah, your palate is DEFINITELY broken.

I should say when I say "New Zealand Sauvignon Blanc" I'm really only referring to Matua because I'm extremely basic when it comes to wine...

Making ice distilled beers is illegal, right?

Cause I’m staring at an ice IPA right now at a local brewery and I’m puzzled.

Also that sounds gross.

I don't think they're illegal but probably depends on the state. Off the top of my head Jack's Abby has Eis Maker and Kuhnhenn has Raspberry Eisbock.

They’re illegal in Oregon because it’s considered distilling and not brewing, that’s why Dave isn’t made anymore.

There are also people who think Alan is still making it on the sly, and why there always happens to be bottles for sale at the brewery.

my understanding is that distilling malt beverages is illegal federally.
eisbocks, etc get around it because you're not "distilling" (ie, no stack), you're "freeze concentrating"

my TTB/ABC agent could be wrong....

I've heard the TTB consistently take this position but I'm not sure there is official guidance from the agency.

States are free to differ though.

Let us know how it tastes.

You know what they say "the older the berry the sweeter the juice"

So it wasn’t terrible. Far to chocolatey. I had been drinking their new pils, which I really like, but it’s heavy sulphur. This is one of the better breweries in Raleigh(Trophy Brewing), but they never nail a style.
