Don't you need an Ovaltine Decoder Ring for that ****?

piece of cake

Works as follows:

First = last digit of the year.

Second = month code (J=January, F=February, M=March, A=April,Y=MaY, U=JUne,L=JuLy,G=AuGust,S=September, O=October, N=November, D=December)

Third = day of month code (Letters A-Z = 1-26, Numbers 7-1 = 27, 28, 29, 30, 31)

Lots of infection issues, way too much overpriced and kind of ****** releases.

It seems they have stopped with the creazy 35 euro bottles for now, those last two BA beers were like 13, but I'm sure they'll come up with some crazy expensive booze-bomb again soon.

So, "yes", then?

I used to love them but they've been making it difficult over the last few years. I haven't had a non-infected Pannepot in at least 2 years

Lots of infection issues, way too much overpriced and kind of ****** releases. They've even messed up Black Albert, they bought a coffee roasting installation but they're absolutely horrible at it and just burn the **** out of the beans. Of course they then use way too much coffee in Black Albert which now just tastes like burnt coffee.
I haven't had anything bad from them thankfully. They also haven't sent almost anything new here the last couple of years for the most part :(

For those who missed it, which is probably everyone, Ratebeer is releasing their "best of" lists and awards this week

The Struise taproom won for best taproom in Belgium and No. 12 taproom worldwide based on a grand total of 5 ratings

I just went through those lists and it's pretty sad how few people they're based on.

Clearly no one on RB has access to Floodland, cause they're significantly better than Garden Path.

Also, all the top beers nearby (Seattle) for me are Elysian. 'dat AB money at work.

Couple random beer thoughts from this weekend:

Don't know why it took me so long to figure this out, but stovepipes of Oskar Blues Pinner are ******* awesome.

As are Harviestoun Ola Dubh 12 Special Reserve and Duck Rabbit Imperial Stout on cask.

Duck Rabbit Baltic Porter used to be very good, but I haven't had it in probably 6 or 7 years.

Can't ever find Pinner or anything OB close to fresh here. I do drink stupid amounts of Little Yella Pils tho

I loathe flying Frontier, but I'll occasionally get a super cheap redeye direct to Cleveland from PDX and begrudgingly take it. The only saving grace is you can get 4 Pinners for $21.

Really? Never had a subpar beer from them. What's the story? Or do you mean that they now make sexy beer styles?

The [legitimate] knock on them used to be that they struggled with QC - not sure if that's still the case. Not that they were ever particularly hyped, but they seem to have fallen in that regard over the last several years (not that that has anything to do with quality).

I've heard this in the past, but have yet to experience it. That said, I do not drink a lot of their beer on any type of consistent basis.

Duck Rabbit definitely make solid beers especially in the darker styles (I really like their Baltic Porter), but they absolutely went through a period where they were having a lot of infection/contamination problems. Among other things, this is the reason that "Olde Rabbit's Foot" ceased production for several years - Foothills and Olde Hickory refused to spend resources and time to do a collab with Duck Rabbit that they worried stood a good chance of being infected. I once had an infected bottle of Duck Rabbit Milk Stout that basically tasted like sour/spoiled milk and beer mixed together. Not pleasant, to say the least.

And there's your next beer trend. American Wild Milk Stout.

You'll be shocked (or not) to learn that The Veil has already done this:

https://untappd.com/b/the-veil-brewing-co-vermicious-knid/2386342

Hornswoggler fermented in a stainless steel fermenter. Then we transferred Horns into freshly dumped red wine French oak barrels and brought the barrels over to our Funkhaüst. We then inoculated the barrels with a mixed culture of wild yeasts and bacteria. Vermicious Knid spent 15 months conditioning and developing complexity in the barrels. We then bottled the beer with a small amount of yeast and priming sugar and allowed the bottles to referment/condition for another 2.5 months. The results are incredible! Clocking in at 8.4%, Vermicious Knid displays restrained and elegant tartness, a luscious full body, vinous similarities, beautiful integration of oak tannins, dry cocoa powder, ripe dark fruit, and bright zippy coffee. The best way to describe Vermicious Knid is a slightly tart Cabernet crossed with a cocoa/dark fruit forward full bodied stout.

Hornswoggler being a chocolate milk stout.

Just noticed the following bill was proposed here in CT. No clue where it stands in the process, but what a ******* crock. Hopefully it just dies...View attachment 4248

that would be some serious ******** and really hurt breweries. most legislatures in the northeast are getting more brewery friendly, so hopefully this doesn't have a chance at passing. to me, it seems like something distributors might try to push through, but hard to say.
