I was prepping my 6.5 gal glass carboy for secondary.

So old school ...

Well, not really 'secondary' [fermentation], just a transfer to a second vessel to cold-crash and super-clear the beer. Not necessary, just me. Normally, I wouldn't secondary a 5 gal batch in a 6.5 gal vessel, but it was the only other vessel I had available. My new plastic BMB will be 5 gal. since I also do 3 gal batches fairly often.

Welcome!!! Go one step further and start fermenting under pressure in your Corny. You'll need an adjustable spunding valve to let the pressure out in the 10 - 15 lb range. Since there isn't too much head room in a Corny, I daisy chain the gas post of the fermenter to the liquid post of an empty keg and put the spunding valve on the gas post of the second keg.

This is very interesting. Any chance you have any links to a How To or pics that explains this in more detail? This sounds like an excellent idea!
