should I crush/grind my flaked barley for mashing? I really need this answer quick because I'm in the middle of the process
 
so, no crush.... but it will float on the surface, isn't it?
 
If it's in hot water the flaked barley will be converted. Pretty much like a catholic on the Jewish holiday of "Boil the gentiles, oy veh!"
