I figure a lot of folks on this forum are members so you probably can tell me what I'm looking for. I signed up for a 1 year membership on Monday. I received an email right away acknowledging my "order". The email didn't mention anything about membership info coming later or in the mail.

Shouldn't I receive something else? Maybe it comes by snail mail - I'm just a spoiled impatient American...

Yup,

That was my experience. The membership card took a few months to come and the magazine took even longer.

Well, that brings me to another question then. I joined because I want to enter a couple brews into the National Homebrew Competition in March. I thought I'd join before I entered but if it takes that long to get the card, how would I enter as a member?

I'm in a similar situation... I just joined as well because I want to be able to preorder tickets for the SAVOR beer event in Washington, DC.... Tickets for that event go on sale in early March, if I don't have my membership info before then I will be PI$$ED

It'll be OK. If you have any concern, contact this wonderful lady. I guarantee she'll take care of it.

FYI, I believe I received an email shortly after I signed up with my membership #. It allowed me to register info on their website/forums/etc. I just didn't get the actual card for a while. Not sure if that helps or not.

I seem to be having a similar problem.... got a gift card for a one year membership and activated it before new years. Have yet to get the email, membership card or anything. Put in a phone call 2 weeks ago and was told to wait a few more weeks, no definit answer was given as to what exactly was going on with my membership.

Kinda sad, that long of a wait for processed paperwork to be mailed. Takes less time to brew, ferment, and bottle condition a batch of beer.

i signed up beginning of last month and was curious where my membership stuff was - did a little research and found that they only mail new member stuff out once a month towards the beginning of the month - fingers crossed i get it soon

The AHA staff is 2.5 people and not a lot of IT budget.

The professional organization I belong to is a bit more responsive but my dues are $1300 a year so I try to be understanding with the AHA.

Here's their web guy (no kidding, Jamil):

Must be the .5 of a person that handles membership. Takes a while with a torso, 2 legs and a keyboard. How do the stamps get licked?

Got my notice via email yesterday that my membership package had shipped. It's a bit confusing though since it says 3-4 weeks to deliver and that orders ship on the first of the month.

I guess I'll get it eventually but if it isn't here before the end of march I'll need to get my membership number so I can use it when I enter the National Homebrew Competition :ban: I'll have to give them a call.

They'll work this out for you. Worst case scenario you register in March as a non-member and they'll make the adjustment later. I believe you will be set before you register though. They may be slow but they are reasonable.
