I'm heading down to Ft. Bragg for my cousin's Special Forces graduation in August. I recently found out that New Belgium is distributed in NC. Can anyone help point me to a liquor/beer store when I can get cases of Fat Tire and any other New Belgium beers in the vicinity of I-95 in Fayetteville (or close to 95 anywhere north of Fayetteville)?

Normally I wouldn't mind going off route for this, but we're making a marathon trip in hopefully less than 24 hours, so I want to stay on route as much as possible.

Thanks! Airborne!!

Close your eyes and spit and you'll find a store with flat tire. Stop at a Food Lion grocery store in Fayetteville and the should have it. If you see a Lowe's Food, they have a decent beer selection too, with a bunch of craft brew.

Airborne grab some 1554 while you're there, it's good stuff. A coworker of mine was down there a month ago, and he gladly pick some up for me, he's not a brewer just likes trying different beer. Good luck to ya, and enjoy your trip.

Jafo28: 1554 is probably my favorite New Belgium beer, but I heard its harder to find outside of Colorado. Your friend found it there?

SgtB: Thanks for the tips, I'm going to get addresses for those places and see which is closer to my route.

My plan is to buy AT LEAST 4 cases, possibly more. I'm dying for New Belgium to start distributing to NY, but for now, I have to treat it like crack!

Second the Lowes Food tip. They usually have a good beer selection and the Lowes food by my house has cases of a couple of New Belgium beers. I personally don't care for New Belgium beers...so

Why not try some of the local breweries? I'm not sure if they distribute to Fayetteville since they're in Raleigh but I highly recommend Big Boss or Lonerider. Mother Earth, despite the hippyness and price tag is excellent as well.

We are actually planning on stopping at Mash House. Any good?

I wish I could hang around for a bit, but this unfortunately has to be a marathon trip. I was actually born in Fayetteville when my father was with the 18th Airborne Corps, but haven't been back since I was less than 6 months old. I was Airborne with 10th Group in Colorado, never stationed at Bragg.

Yes he got me a twelve pack of it, also Fat Tire, and Ranger IPA.

Yep, most everywhere should have Fat Tire. Sixpacks and bombers of 1554 are pretty easy to come by too.

If you like Fat Tire, look for a case of Red Oak while you're down here too. Not exactly that similar, but both easy drinking beers.

Yep. One of NC's oldest craft breweries. It's not going to blow your mind but if you dig Fat Tire then you'll enjoy it. Duck Rabbit is another good local that's fairly easy to come across. Their Milk Stout is pretty widely regarded as being a great example of the style.
