Question about my used keg (bottom inside badly scratched)

I just got a used ball lock soda keg at a very good price, and the outside of it looks fine. However, when I looked at the inside today I noticed significant scratches and dents in the bottom. Not sure how that could even happen. It almost looks like the liquid uptake tube came off the side maybe at one point and just banged around in the bottom.

This is the first time I've ever tried kegging and I cannot find anything on this issue online.

So the question is this. Is this a problem, and if so is there any solution (ie fine sandpaper).

Scratches in your keg could be a problem because bacteria could get in there where sanitizer can't reach it. You could try sealing up the scratches with a product like this: http://www.scratch-b-gone.net/

I wouldn't toss the keg just yet. You've got some options.

Honestly, I got a bunch of kegs, and perhaps 3 or 4 had scratches in the bottom...it looks like the liquid post was tightened hard, and the liquid dip tube got reefed out of the "dent" at the bottom of the keg and scratched the keg around it.

I have done nothing to fix the scratches, (which are quite deep). I have also put multiple batches through the kegs without a problem.

Not sure if it's a big deal or not, but I don't worry about it. The beer is pretty bulletproof once it has fermented anyway....the real dangers come before it's got alcohol, etc....
