Question about mfl fittings on disconnects

I was wondering if the nylon washers are needed when screwing a hose barb fitting to the ball lock quick disconnect with mfl end. I would normally use the little plastic( nylon?) washer when connecting the fitting if they are both metal but the ball lock disconnects have plastic tips on the end of the mfl. So I wasn't sure if they are needed?

Nope - They are not necessary because the metal of the swivel nut (Well, the barb actually) seals against the plastic.

Works for me, and I've never had a leak yet...
