brewed a couple weeks back. I did a partigyle brew with three runnings/three beers, making for a very long brew day.
being tired (and lazy) I decided cleanup could wait until the next morning, so I did what I thought were the most essential cleaning items (hoses, mash tun, etc) and left some things in an embarrassing state.
wake up the next morning, totally sick with the flu. ok, cleaning can wait.
stay home sick from work 2 days, then when I got back to work there was a bit of a crisis, so I was working 90+ hour weeks for about three weeks. That all got straightened out, then there was other life stuff going on (including laziness).
So I go out today to clean up.
cleaning the kettle goes just fine. Hot water, soap and some scrubbing and we're good.
same for my thermometer, and spoon.
Then, I notice I'd left my wort chiller in my aluminum pot that I use for measuring and heating water for my mash.
it's got white gunk in there, I assume is just mold or something.
Pull the chiller out, clean it.
dump the water & gunk out, start scrubbing away and I notice the bottom of the pot is rough. Now that's odd. I only use this pot for water, never for boiling anything, so there shouldn't really be anything crusty on there.
rinse it all off, and go in for closer inspection:
The dots you see above are daylight peeking through.
