I was wondering if you have a high extraction efficiency from mashing is there a way to that promash can compensate for this so you hit the target IBU?

I made a lightly hopped lawnmower beer that had a 91% Eff. and now I think its underhopped. The malt sweetness is noticable. More so than I had expected.

As a side note I didn't detect this sweetness at bottling. Do you think its just young and that its residual sugar? I never noticed this before on any of my brews. FYI - young is two weeks into carbing. I'm hoping the aging process dry this out a bit.
 
No. Can promash help you adjust the bittering for a really good extraction. Just the opposite for a poorer one.

You can't adjust the bittering in any other manner than adding/subtracting/changing hops. So if you have 91% efficiency, just go into the recipe and up the eff to 91% and then adjust your hop bill until it's in a good range.
 
This is a reason why preboil gravity is so important. If your expected post boil OG is going to be much higher or lower, you can adjust your hopping on the fly to keep the relative balance constant.

I did this and it changes the IBU but not enough to make a difference. Which I don't believe...

Biermunchers Cream of 3 crop

@ 5-95% Eff = 17.1 IBU's

@ 99% Eff = 16.9 IBU's

I'm going to look closer at the efficiency section. I'm surprised it doesn't change the IBU's somewhere after you enter in the actuals. :mad:
