Can you guys tell me if these ingredients are for a porter? and if so are they ok to use for a Porter?

1 lbs Caramel/Crystal Malt - 80L
1 lbs Chocolate Malt
9 lbs Dark Liquid Extract
2.00 oz Chinook
0.50 oz Willamette
0.50 oz Willamette
1.0 pkg American Ale (Wyeast Labs #1056)

I think you have too much (Chinook) hops for a porter.

How about something like this?

Ingredients:
------------
Amt Name
1 lbs Caramel/Crystal Malt - 80L (80.0 SRM)
1 lbs Chocolate Malt (350.0 SRM)
9 lbs Dark Liquid Extract (17.5 SRM)
2.00 oz Fuggles [4.50 %] - Boil 60.0 min
0.50 oz Fuggles [4.50 %] - Boil 15.0 min
0.50 oz Fuggles [4.50 %] - Aroma Steep 0.0 min
1.0 pkg American Ale (Wyeast Labs #1056)

I thought the Hops were off, I had a friend give me these ingredients and he thought it was for a Porter, but I am pretty new to this, so I wasn't 100%. I have seen a lot of Fuggles in different porter recipes. I will hang on to the Chinook for another brew another day, I will pick up some Fuggles, and start brewing, maybe today even!!! Thanks for the correction

You can use Chinook in a porter if you like but I would change the 60 minute addition to something like this:

Ingredients:
------------
Amt Name
1 lbs Caramel/Crystal Malt - 80L (80.0 SRM)
1 lbs Chocolate Malt (350.0 SRM)
9 lbs Dark Liquid Extract (17.5 SRM)
1.00 oz Chinook [13.00 %] - Boil 60.0 min
0.50 oz Chinook [13.00 %] - Boil 15.0 min
0.50 oz Chinook [13.00 %] - Aroma Steep 0.0 min Hop
1.0 pkg American Ale (Wyeast Labs #1056) [0.53 C Yeast

Thanks, I am still to new at this to distinguish the taste difference in the hops, but then again, I like pretty much all styles of beer, so I am probably good with just about anything :D
