Haven't used POR15 on my brewstand or beer related projects. The frame of my truck and my father's cutlass were painted with POR15 several years ago and has held up very well although they don't see snow/salt and only limited rain. POR15 without a topcoat fades fairly quickly when left out in the sun, even by the end of only 2 weeks.

you need a top coat for sure. I used it to patch up some rusty spots on my truck when some clown backed a ball up into the bumper. It worked for as long as I owned the truck (maybe 5 years or so) and then I sold it.

Make sure you get the prep wash to etch the surface. Then be sure to topcoat.

I remember POR as being expensive, so honestly it might be cheaper to just go another route. Even if that means spray paint.

I've used Eastwoods version and it was ok, but as with POR15 it needs to be covered if it sees sunlight since it fades quickly. I don't think it goes on as thick as a powder coat.

I've used POR15's high temp engine paint. I know it's not in direct sun like the outside would be but my Chevy Orange truck engine still looks great after 8 years.

I will be brewing primarily indoors and maybe once in a while outside but the website says it is uv protected so that should help with the short time it is outside. It is 85 bucks for a quart of por15 and a gloss topcoat. Im figuring about a hundred bucks to paint the stand but i should have enough left over to cover any touch ups in the future if i decide to change anything.

Im glad to head it is tough and does stand the test of time

Make sure to save it in a mason jar or something air tight. Does not save well in the can.

Good to know... thanks. I had never heard of the stuff until a friend at work mentioned using on his samurai. Hopefully it comes out nice
