Drink it at Frankie's?

I don't know what that means.

Going back to coffee talk...

A while back I said that I had a so/so experience with what I had ordered from Happy Mug. I did a second order that arrived yesterday and I must say I was really impressed with my coffee this morning. I think last time I went with extremely dark roasts (which I tend to like) and they were too roasty even for me. I lightened it up this time and I was quite happy with my cup of coffee.

i just got back from colorado. looks like i didn't miss too much back in the burgh. as expected, the beer scene was great out there. the one thing that jumped out as vastly different from our neck of the woods is that the tasting rooms/pubs out there were much bigger than they are out here. i'm not sure if that's because investment capital is easier to get out there or just a greater general popularity. i went to a few bigger bottle shops as well and was overwhelmed by the selection. i finally got to tick some of those firestone barrel beers that i wouldn't ever bother trading for. there were a bunch of local wild ales that i've never heard of and wasn't willing to drop a bunch of money to find out if they were any good or not, but some of them sounded pretty interesting at least (one had a saison brewed with sunflowers). i didn't have much room in my luggage to bring beers back either.

also, crooked stave now cans st. bretta, and at $10/4pack, one of the best beer deals of all time.

Yawn...

Hit up BG for the first time in a while last night and man did I miss Mexican Coffee! I thought Kabuto was really good, but General Braddock's stole the show.

Guessing DoubleMex was a one and done kinda thing? Wish they'd make that an annual release.

DoubleMex release next month, from what I was told.
I'd give it another try. Wished last batch was more barrel/booze forward with bigger body. It had less cinnamon than regular but I did enjoy the extra touch of vanilla it had. Fun to try beers again and see how batches changes or if anything gets tweaked.

Hope that's the case, and that they do it the way they have the last few releases with allowing multiple days to sign up for bottles. That standing in line for 3 hours on Saturday **** was for the birds.
Pretty sure all new releases will stay consistent with their reservation system.

I'll requote what i wrote 500pages ago (wow this is still carrying on that many pages ago haha)

I was with tommyguz and STG228 and a few other guys last night when we opened it along with a growler of regular Mexican Coffee. Tom said what he tasted the first time was confirmed again and he didn't enjoy it as much as original. I'll let STG228 give his take on it but from what I remember we both said we enjoyed the overall mouthfeel and amount of cinnamon better in the original. It has more coffee a much nicer roasty flavor too but little to no vanilla. Double Mex was much sweeter and I got a lot more vanilla which is to be expected coming from barrels. I noticed just a very faint vegetal/green coffee on initial sip but was something I had so search for. I didn't get any cinnamon on the Double Mex. It was still very tasty and a toss up on which I like more depending what flavors I wanted that particular day/night (some days you want a burger and others spaghetti haha). The one thing we did talk about is how sensitive some people are to certain flavors. One of us said the cinnamon in MexCoffee was extremely prominent and almost overbearing to him but he has noticed that on several beers with cinnamon.

I wonder with that individual being sensitive to cinnamon, tommyguz is sensitive to that green coffee flavor that can lend itself to a pepper/vegetal characteristic

On the off chance that they would do DoubleMex sign ups next week...

I'm going to be out of town for the week, heading up VT/MA way. If they do have sign ups and I miss out, I'll swap one of yinz some dank 16oz freshies for one of your DoubleMex allotment.

If anyone could hook a brother up in case that occurs, send me a PM.
