I'm tryin to be diplomatic here man, give an industry brother a breakI would agree...
But DL.
Just gimme the sherried Scotch. No need to introduce DL into the equation.

Gooski's in Polish Hill, not too far (but more than walking distance) from downtown. Good enough beer selection at good prices, cheap Polish food, & the best jukebox in maybe the world.best dive bar
Are any of those semi close (10 minutes ish) to the hotel?Breweries other than those 2...
Voodoo
Grist House
Insurrection
Roundabout
Hitchhiker
That's about all that are worth going to off the top of my head.

Sure thing. One of my faves. Not a beer geek destination, per se, but always a good time, & there's enough good beer to be had there. More of a punk rock dive bar, but definitely dive. Last I was there it was cash only & they'll lend you a flashlight to use their ATM.Thanks man!

Primarily looking for beer bars actually.
I don't think there are any breweries within ~20 minutes of there aside from maybe East End (not one you want to go to).

If it were up to me, that's what we'd do, but it's a group of 8. We checked Google Maps and Dancing Gnome was 10 minute car ride and that seemed fine, but people were waffling when it can to 20 minutes for Brew Gentleman...Unfortunately, "beer bars" are something that Pittsburgh sort of lacks. Good ones, anyway. There are a few scattered here or there that have something, but it's not a strong suit of the city by any stretch.
I'd say just go for broke and Uber out to Brew Gentlemen and Voodoo in Homestead/Braddock and then Hitchhiker and Dancing Gnome in Sharpsburg and skip the rest, but that's just me.

And that's a real bummer that Pittsburgh doesn't have many great beer bars.
Fat Heads and Pipers (across the street from one another in the South Side) are really not very far away from your hotel. I've walked there from further away. Are any of those semi close (10 minutes ish) to the hotel?

if ur looking for unique places, smallman galley is a restaurant incubator and has dope food and arguably best draft list for local options and rare taps u won't find anywhere else in pgh

I just rolled my eyes so hard my nose started bleeding and my left testicle ascended into my abdomen. Thanks
Truthiness hurts sometimes, Matthew.
Plus Carson St. Deli is right down the road. Usually have some "local" beers on tap.Given where he is staying - and what he is looking for - I'm going to throw my hat in the Fat Head's / Pipers ring.
And canning in November. What's that you say, Insurrection? You're brewing an English-style barleywine? To put into bourbon barrels?
