Just rolled into town last night and we're at Fat Head's right now! (I work at the one in Portland.) We're also gonna go to Voodoo and Brew Gentlemen. What are some of the other best breweries and beer bars in town?? We also tried the Grist House Fire on the Hill last night and it was tasty!
If you're at Voodoo Thu, Sat, or Sun night, say hi! I'll be bartending.

Speaking of marketing copy, I read this

and man, y'all get upset about Grist House & Draai Laag shitmarketing but this is ok?
That's not even that bad and they actually (generally) make pretty good beer.
Yeah, not sure I follow. It's extremely redundant, and probably could've just read, "We made another IPA; you're all gonna buy it," but it's gotta be hard to come up with new stuff to say about IPAs all the time.

To be clear, if DL made good beer, DL's marketing garbage would be somewhat forgiveable. While I don't think that Trill write-up is all that bad, they still make great beer so it doesn't matter at all.

This. And truth be told, I feel like most breweries with a more modern feel write up things like that all the time. Those shops are mostly run by younger folks (millennials) and marketing is big with them.

TL;DR griping about it is the equivalent of yelling "Get off my lawn!"

Sat in a whiskey barrel briefly so it would impart some mild flavor and bring out the malts a little more.

For some reason this sentence makes me waaay madder than any of Draai Laag's marketing copy.

While DL still takes the cake for me...this part of the Beaver thing definitely screams "I know nothing about how beer works"

This is still - by far - my favorite Beer Description from the Beaver Brewing website:

"One of my personal favorite beers at the brewery will be pouring this weekend. The Brown Note is an English Brown made with a unique seasonal malt which adds an incredibly unique “Brown” flavor to the beer.

I always describe it as “picture a macro brewed brown ale…now add flavor…and reduce the ABV.” The Brown Note comes in only at 3.8% ABV and I challenge you to find a maltier flavored beer at that same ABV."

Emphasis is mine.

Literally LOLing

Yup. Modern Times was the worst. A year or two back, their marketing copies were cringeworthy.

Does anyone else here think Prairie stouts suck, or is it just me?

I think they're solid for what they are. They aren't blowing your mind but they are good, dependable, and easy to get your hands on.

I love BOMB! too. That's one of my favorite spiced stouts.

Probably just a me thing, but all of their stouts I've tried came with a very ashy/charcoal thing going on. Just not for me.

I think regular old bomb is great...but its way overpriced.

this explains it then...while I'd probably not describe Prairie stouts that way, I love this type of uniquely brown note in a stout and probably am not as sensitive to it as you and your baby palate.

i paid $9 for a 12oz bottle of paradise. i don't think i'd pay $9 for a 4 pack after having it. i did really enjoy pirate bomb and apple brandy noir though.
