This is correct. Smoky AF (ashtray feels) is a permanent ISO.

Do you Schlenkerla bro?

I've only ever had the Marzen version and I remember enjoying it.

You?

Loved all of the ones i've had, but if i had to rank em i'd go Eiche, Helles, Fasten, Maerzen probably. Helles could be an everyday beer for me. I still need to try the Urbock and the Weizen. And if they make any other ones i need to try those too.

Eiche, Fastenbier, Helles, Marzen, Urbock, and Weizen.

I believe I've had them all, but I could have easily missed the Helles and the Weizen.
One of my favorite breweries. Pretty sure that Helles isn't even made with rauchmalt, it's just smoky because it's brewed at Schlenkerla/Heller-Trum. This might be apocryphal, but I so want it to be true.

EDIT: Not apocryphal - https://shop.schlenkerla.de/Pale-Lager

We should hang out. This is a good #take.

I HATE smoke in my beer and was bamboozled by that Marzren one cold October day I shall never forget....

That actually sounds good to me. Took me a while to remember Fire on the Hill isn't a smoked beer. I just kept assuming where there's fire there's smoke, and was perpetually disappointed.

Seeing this reminds me of "There was Only Fire" by BG. I know it was from the old brewer, but to this day, that's still my favorite BG beer of all time.

Doing a Portside Ghost Ship tonight. Was extra'd this last year and just getting around to it now. Might be the Cleveland connection, but reminiscent of BA Blackout. kbuzz woukd love it because it is running hot! Pretty nice extra.

Hey Burghers!
I was born and raised in the Burgh, havent been back in a few years...
Will be around this upcoming weekend thru next week-

If you had to choose 2-3 new spots to go for BEER, where would they be, other than my Mom's basement where I still have a stash??
Pittsburgh and surrounding area, thanks!!!

For breweries I would recommend a visit to Brew Gentlemen, Dancing Gnome, Roundabout or Voodoo. Where are you located near...that can help us give direction.

I will be spending my time in the South Hills, Mt. Washington and the North Shore--but will travel for beer.

Is the stash at mom's house enough to last your entire visit? If no, stay in California.

Definitely check out Hitchhiker which will be in your backyard. From there BG and Voodoo are within 10 minutes of each other and probably 20-30 minutes away based on where in the South Hills you are. Blue Dust can be worked in as a third option. Pipers, Carson St Deli and Fat Heads in the Southside are great options too.

Excellent thank you!!

yes, it is more than enough

BG throwing a little bottle labeling teaser on Instagram. Looks like some more saisons on the way.

After pulling the last releases last night to put in the fridge, I think they were just labeling more of the Table beer. The teaser had a green label. The Mise en Rose Collection have red labels. Just a thought...

Smoke on the River was the name. If you're into that, I'm sure you'd enjoy it but it just wasn't my thing. I don't mind a mild smoky flavor but this was overkill.

Can't edit, but BG is open Wed-Sun. Just check hours before you make final plans.
Hornet Saw North Shore on your list as well. Southern Tier opened a new spot there although I have never personally been there. Within 15 minutes there are a ton of options. You can easily hit up Dancing Gnome, Penn, Grist House, Church Brew Works and Roundabout. Draii Laag is another option but IMHO their beers are weird. Full Pint and Hop Farm are also close. Smallman Galley is a good restaurant option that typically has lots of local taps too.
