I think Insurrection is really good especially being open only a year and struggling to keep beer on tap(obviously because it's good) but I'm not sure they are really anywhere near Roundabout yet. You could transport Roundabout to pretty much any city in PA and they would be considered one of if not the best brewery there. We're lucky that now even to be considered 4th or 5th best brewery here you have to be a pretty good brewery. The quality and quantity in the city is pretty surreal. You could tell someone to visit Hitchhiker, Insurrection, Voodoo, Brew Gentlemen or Roundabout and there is a pretty good chance they will love any/all of them. Not a lot of other cities can say that.

* Insurrections Wings are pretty insane and worth a trip alone.

FTFY

You obviously haven't been to Hitchhiker lately.

I've been told that several times since they opened and have been burned everytime. Because of that it's not worth trekking all the way out there again, but I will stop in again based on recent recommendations if I'm in the area.

Holy ******* mountain. You there? I listen to that album once a month at least...on vinyl, not kidding.

I went and it was amazing

Holy **** that was amazing. I wish I had known you guys were there cause I was in the balcony and had an $80 bar credit to spend. So towards the end of the set I was just handing out Two Hearteds to people around me.

Also Matt and Al lost a lot of weight. And Matt Pike might have a glandular problem - sweatiest man I've ever seen.

Also, Windhand sucks.

Pizza Boy Event at Hal's Bottle Shop tonight - Four different drafts will be pouring at tonight’s event; three of them in the Bottle Shop and the fourth next door inside Hal’s Bar & Grill. The three drafts owning the taps in the Bottle Shop are Eternal Sunshine Dry-Hopped Sour, Murran River IPA, and Chocolate & Nuts Bock. On tap at the bar will be Hop Vision Amarillo Pale Ale.

Sorry if you've been burned, we certainly had growing pains. We are finally finding our stride and please let me know your thoughts on your next trip out or let me know beforehand and I'll buy your beers. I firmly believe we are in the top 5 quality wise right now and the beer is still getting better and that will never change.

Another beer event with a head scratching price point: A new festival is coming to the National Aviary on the North Side on July 1. The Birds & the Beers runs from 6:30 to 10 p.m. that Friday. General admission is $60, which includes a souvenir glass for sampling the wares of War Streets Brewery, Penn Brewery, Voodoo Brewery, Grist House Craft Brewery, ShuBrew and Wigle Whiskey, plus three food courses from Atria’s and live music by The Groove Academy. VIP tickets for $75 get you in for a private tasting a half-hour early.

I love going to and supporting the Aviary but for $60 I can buy an individual membership for a whole year. I know that these events aren't really aimed at us but it is shocking to see some of the price points.

I was there for the first time last week. Cool spot, liked Bane of Existance, the two sours I had were pretty forgettable though.

Not beer-related (but no more off-topic than usual) - my close-to-work go-to bar has a cocktail that I'm excited about:
Get Off My Lawn Werther's infused Old Grand Dad bourbon / cold-brew coffee
Please tell me where this is. I need this in and around my mouth ASAP.

Thanks for coming out. Not a fan of Trillions of Friends a malty kettle sour doesn't do it for me but I had to make it, A Different Animal is getting a majorly revamped dry hop aka Citra Citra Citra Citra.
