If these ******* foghorns in my neighborhood wake my kids up, god help them all.

So we can stop talking about this **** now right?

(I think dupuis should have been given the cup before Daley. And who determines the Conn Smythe winner? Not sure I would have picked Crosby... Just saying.... )

Buzz Killington over here.

I'm sure somebody can correct this...but I believe it's something like 20ish sports writers get to vote, with 5 minutes remaining in the 3rd period of the Stanley Cup clinching game...those decide it.

Although I agree with the Dupuis thing, I don't mind Daley.

I'm working in Bethel Park tomorrow, anybody up to meet ANYWHERE in Pittsburgh for a minor celebration circa 530-8? I'm ready to party now, but...obligations and capitalism and I just want to drink beer and party.

#GoPens
Daley trade was the change of the season not the coaching change he change the defense and the speed of the team well deserving.

And I love duper but only reason he should of been able to hold the cup is he he didn't retire we would not have Daley haglin and Schultz

****.yeah! Yinz *******.

**** yeah.

Super Galaxy Sasquatch Jr growler wasn't bad. It was terrible. Not going to say it was infected because I just don't know enough to say it was but it was awful. I drank about a glass and change before I just couldn't do it anymore. Stomach was all sorts of ****** up afterward as well.

Sorry to intrude but I couldn't find the info elsewhere on here or online: Are there any limitations on growler shape or size at Brew Gentlemen? Mainly interested if they'll fill Tired Hands style 1L's or just their own 750's.

We'll fill 750mLs, 1L / 32oz, and 2L / 64oz growlers. No limits on shape. For the 1L / 32oz fills, we charge $1 more than our 750mL price. Our current draft list and prices are available here.

I ended up in Greentree yesterday after work so I swung down to Insurrection for the first time. Tried 5 samples and took home 2 growlers. I've never had anything from them so this is all first impression.

Brain Bucket (Galaxy and Nelson) was one of the growlers I bought and drank last night so I got more than a sample. Possibly my new favorite local single IPA clipping Hyer-PA. Huge nose, smooth body, and just tasted great. Light back-end bitterness as well.

Super Galaxy Sasquatch was just okay. I don't know if it was the yeast strain(s) or what but it didn't taste like other SH Galaxy beers I've had. Bought a 32 before tasting it. I may regret that. I love Galaxy so I didn't think much of trying it before grabbing a growler. I'll drink it tonight and report back.

SHPAS: Nelson Sauvin was nice for what it was @ 4.5%. Very light bodied as expected. Easy to drink with a nice hop presence but not my preference.

Aufstand with Blueberries was mildly tart, kind of acedic, and had a light blueberry flavor to it. Would have preferred more fruit and less acid. Won't induce heartburn but a few ounces was enough for me.

The stout with the Russian name was probably the highlight. Big body for 9%. First sip was a little ashy but after that, it was heavy chocolate and very creamy. 32oz of a stout is too much for me, especially this time of year, but I considered getting a half growler of this.

All in all, there's potential.

75% sure the super galaxy sasquatch junior has some sort of brett. It definitely seemed like it to me. I didn't hate it as much as you, but I wasn't overly thrilled...

Brain bucket is a double ipa and it is delicious.
The Gunga Gulanga is a damn good ipa too. The oats give it a massive mouthfeel for a single ipa.
Bocchrane is pretty good, I believe (read: really, really hope) it's going in Buffalo Trace barrels that previously held maple syrup. Booyah!

If it did, it was very subtle. Regardless, I thought it was awful. I don't drain pour but I couldn't suffer through that one any longer.

It would be the same if they only let you buy growlers, and not 16 oz pours..., or 8 oz pours..., or a small sample to see if you like it. So not really the same.

I know what you mean though, Ive done that with other breweries that I trusted before just because pretty much everything they make is pretty great. Unfortunately theres only 1 brewery in Pittsburgh that I have enough faith in that I would buy a whole growler of without trying it first.

Yeah but even a small sample could be misleading sometimes.

Oh well, live and learn, no big deal. It was only 32 oz and I shared it with friends so

Glad to see someone else use this name. Hope they dont get in trouble for it.

I've only been in Pittsburgh for about a year but I feel like I've noticed a good number of local breweries offering hazy style ipa's. I came from Durham, NC where no one in the area is doing them. Have you guys noticed established breweries switch from clear to hazy over time? Or have most of them been doing them since day one when they opened?

Voodoo's rotating IPAs have been of that vein while their staples like Good Vibes are more west coast in style.

It's really a mix and it's not just Pittsburgh. I've seen a lot of breweries just say they are making a Vermont style or notheast IPA which I don't even know what that means. Also, when did Kettle soured IPA's become a thing? Seems like that's the new trend.

Just curious, what do you do if you can't drink it and don't drainpour? Water your plants with it?

It's an exceedingly rare thing for me to not be able to push through and drink it even if I don't enjoy it. But this one was turning my stomach. No other option.

Eh, bit late with this but I should probably speak up on the controversy of the Parkway Theater showing Vaxxed.

Abjuration is a separate entity from the Parkway Theater. We will have our own small taproom inside the building. Films will be shown in an enclosed and sound proofed room that you can take our beers into. The film selection will rarely be our call.

The owner of the Parkway Theater is all about giving indie films a place to be seen… for better or for worse. As for Vaxxed, you won’t see me there supporting it but I can’t fault him for giving any film a place to be seen if people are asking for it. Personally, I’d much rather see Waxxed.

Also, we are having a free sampling this Saturday (June 18th) from 5-7:30pm with a food truck on site. This is your chance to bitch slap the theater owner for showing Vaxxed.
