Does anyone remember a youtube reviewer from back in the day (2010ish) who would alternate between reviewing decent craft beer (KBS comes to mind) and then occasionally responding to "malt liquor challenges" and chugging four loco and ****? I think he was actually from PA - maybe even from close to the Pittsburgh area. Dude was a goofball. Can't remember who he was for the life of me now....would love to go back and watch some of his videos again.

EDIT: IIRC, his schtick was removing the cap and throwing it in some demonstrative fashion
Father Spoon and Sick Puppy?

Ha! Chris is a friend of mine. Long-time regular at the House & even worked there for a spell.

The Mickeys one--if my kitchen looked like that, I'd slam malt liquor all day errday too.

Edit: While impressed, feel like he should've poked a hole in the bottom of them plastic bottle to speed up "the quickness."

Not sure why, but I always thought he might be from close by...

EDIT: seriously...who don't you ******* know??? :D
I don't think he's done those in years. I came across his videos by accident after having known him for a while. Used to be you'd search the word "lambic" on YouTube & one of his videos was, like, the third result.

can't remember how I stumbled upon him...but his videos used to crack me up cause he was all over the place. Just a pure loon.

After briefly viewing that stupidity, I'm ashamed I got him confused with a guy from Butler.

oh it's ******* WAY stupid.

It's obvious from the other thread that I shouldn't listen to your opinion.....PITTSBURGH HOMER!

haha just kidding, but damn I can't believe how quick they were to put you on blast. That was brutal!!

You can't believe they put him on blast? Seriously? Let me try to educate you a little based on my very brief understanding of how this site works.

Lots of people left purgatory to come over here to hell because they didn't appreciate the divine brothers and their minions moderating the **** out of their posts.

Some, or maybe even a majority (you see, much like cck's actual # of released bottles, it's impossible to tell) of those migratory creatures were actually banned from the other place, likely for extreme *********gery. So now they're free to roam here, in all their knob-slobbing know-it-all-ness and they can use legendarirly dank memes to **** on whomever they desire.

You see the same 10-15ish people, the self-chosen ones, the all-knowing, knobslobbing *********s dictate which beers are worth what. Only they understand and decide which trades are worthy.

Don't be wrong, don't argue, don't have an opinion that differs from theirs, or you pay the ultimate eternal burn of Internet mockery from grown adults hiding anonymously behind mundane profile pictures.

Actually, this whole gig is pretty amazing. Maybe this ain't hell after all.

I haven't been here long. But I wish this was a sticky or a warning before I made a single post. You are spot on. A lot of edginess.

I like the part about grown adults hiding behind memes. What a weird thing. I think they have institutionalized "thread crapping" as the norm.

People go nuts for Westbrook Gose and, in my parts, Union Old Pro Gose (which is better than Westbrook), because they say they are perfect beers to pound in warmer months. How can someone drink more than one of either of those beers? Just one dimensional and very sour. I don't get it.

Stillwater Gose Gone Wild is the truth. I wish that were in 6 pack cans. Not overly sour. Could have a few.

Ritterguts Gose is my favorite, but I have never seen it in MD.

Union Old Pro is SOOOOO GOOD

1.Roundabouts gose is the best balanced gose I've ever had.

2. East end had a good thing with the paper wrapped gratitude. Putting it in cans is a complete joke. They make enough beer that they could be leading the pittsburgh brewery charge but instead they are so out of touch that they can the one beer people care about that ages well in a vessel( mobile canning company that does a terrible job with oxygen levels) that negates aging. I'm only iso a can to shotgun it, thats it.

Sigh.

No I couldn't believe HOW QUICKLY they put him on blast. I knew he was going to get blasted, but that escalated quickly.

But great description haha

Good morning at GEMDRFL. Bottle of Halia, Lucifer for $3, a pint of KBS, and an unlabeled Dark Horse single which I'm going to assume is BA Scotty Karate for no reason at all. Love having Fridays off.

And this might only apply to OneDropSoup but I'll see you at
beers of the burgh. I'll be pouring for the love of my life, Roundabout.
I'm gonna try to make it to rep (drink for) Voodoo.

Not seeing any good beer. Guy seems like a real charmer though.

Pretty much any sour/gose/lambic/etc is like this for me. 12oz is more than enough for one sitting. I don't care much for gose to begin with but I didn't find anything outstanding about neither Westbrook nor Gose Gone Wild.

Feel however you guys want to feel. But if it bothers everyone here so much, why not go back to BA? Very few of you seem to want to participate in the community outside of this thread, which is probably the biggest circlejerk here, right?

Just to clear the air, because this isn't true.

I'm being honest here. You guys should trade/BIF/LIF on this site. The generosity is legendary.

gregkoko I wouldn't say it bothers me so much, but I would say that KevBot brings up some valid points. You don't seem too open to criticism though, so that sort of seems like a fool's errand to discuss it.

Sort of seems a touch hypocritical of you to post ITT so much if you have such an issue with the content. Unless I'm misunderstanding your intent there.

I was agreeing with this line, I guess it deserves a quick edit: very few of you seem to want to participate in the community outside of this thread

Edit:fixed. In all honesty I have no clue what the rest of this debate is about. It is beyond me because I am not involved in the trade world.

I think that's fair. I can only speak for myself personally, but that's kind of just who I am. Over on BA I really only participated in the Pittsburgh thread too. That's nothing against the rest of the community, I just kind of find the larger conversation sort of overwhelming. It's like a hundred people in a room all talking at once.

This is more like a dozen people talking at once and I find that more palatable.

Actually, I tried to participate in SF Bay area, Lambics, etc, but it didn't matter. One guy found a way to judge everything I said and did in every thread I posted. The reality is that you can do both TB and BA. I am just looking to avoid the *********gery while I am here. And not trading is a really good way to do that on here. I had some upcoming travel and thought I would try an IP. Didn't think it hurt to try, but holy **** were people rude (and hypocritical) as ****. Dont say the word "rare", but your trade will be judged based on how common your offering is. What a pile of crap.

And just an FYI, I live in Ohio but have family in Pittsburgh. Love the Penguins (Geno FTW). And so far there are definitely a few people in this thread that see through the crap outside of this thread. I will probably hang around here more because I like to keep up with the beer scene in Pittsburgh. Not sure about some of the other areas.

Sure they're valid points. People threadshit and use "dank memes" and whatever else. Feel free to criticize the community, but if you're not a member of it nobody is going to take notice. Just a quick glance at your last 97 posts, 4 were in the CCK thread, 2 were in giveaways, and the rest were all in this thread.

This part is maybe true. But, since joining a couple of months ago (specifically for this thread), I've lurked then followed then participated in several threads; a few more each month. Not arguing if the "blast" was warranted or reasonable--irrespective of that altogether, but a dick punch isn't the best way to lure circlejerkers into unfamiliar territory. For me, it takes a while (here or on BA) to get a feel for the temperature of individual threads. Don't want to embarrass myself.

Edit: Stepping outside of our microcosm--echo chamber, can help to validate/invalidate reinforced thinking, but it's tough to stick around and learn a lesson when you step out of a circlejerk and into a gangbang.

Understood, and I posted above why that is. It's nothing against the community, I just find participation on a larger level to be sort of fruitless. That's just my personal experience with it.

I guess I shouldn't have poked my nose in that MBP thread, but I thought some of the comments in there were ********. Cheap shot insults about our city, about how we're the "new Florida" when we have one beer that trades well. Not exactly the sort of comments that are going to make me want to participate on a larger level.

Sorry that happened, totally stay out of the trading scene if you want. Site isn't TradeBeer, it's TalkBeer. All I'm advocating is you guys participating in other stuff here. It doesn't even have to be beer! There's gotta be something in Off-Topic that you're interested in. The more you put in to the community here, the more you'll get out of it. Some people can be dicks, but that's true of life everywhere. I've met a LOT of people from this site over the past few years and their friendships/generosity knows no bounds. People here are god damned sweethearts.

Except tosh
