Fathead's has a new IPA on:
FAT HEAD’S BENJAMIN DANKLIN IPA 16oz, $6 Benjamin Danklin is the Founding Father of Ales. With Centennial, Columbus, Citra, Chinook & Simcoe it’s loaded up like a lightning rod of lupulin. This beer is proof that God wants us to be hoppy! 7.5% ABV. 80 IBU.
Anyone else agree that their social media game, marketing, and general attitude is that the Pittsburgh location is now an afterthought? A couple of us stopped their for their "rib night" last week only to be told "Oh, we don't do that anymore" - when they just advertised it as a new thing a month ago. Email blasts list lots of events and new beers for Cleveland/Portland, and Pittsburgh its "Hey thanks for coming to that brunch we did."

WHY HAVE YOU FORESAKEN US

I did. Thanks for pointing it out.
For the record, I wasn't busting your balls there - I seriously thought you might have meant "caviler" (someone who raises irritating & trivial objections - y'know, like me) & was trying to put it in the context of recidivism.

That comment is blasphemy.
Hey, Adam's a top-tenner for me, just that you don't see smoky barleywine/old ale types around very often, so I thought the comparison was apt. Immort definitely gets some points for being way easier to get.

I knew a kid who's parents owned a bunch of that land in the 80s. They thought they hit gold selling it for about 10k an acre. His dad couldn't get over it. It was like the only thing he talked about, when I was there so about 10 years ago. Can't even imagine now.
Anyone in this convo been to Hereford & Hops?

No worries. I need to try better to assume others have better intentions.

S'cool. I learned a new word in the process. :) And you were in the midst of an eloquent WV tirade. If someone got me started on the blight of New Ken or the political climate of rural central PA, my vision might be a little tinted as well.

We have seen this before where the pens just choke I know it's a new team and feels different but wont feel safe till I see handshakes

Also a lot less communicable diseases in the locker room. It was worse then the media portrayed last year.

Pretty good stat regarding the Pens so far this postseason. They are leading all teams with 32 goals, but don't have a single player in the top 10 in points and only one player in the top 10 in goals (Hornqvist at 8th). Much different story from the past few years when the 3rd and 4th lines were absolutely useless.

But I hear you. We've seen this narrative before, and I'm probably one of the most pessimistic sports fans alive.

Anyone have Rivertowne's Mazy 2X Chocolate Milk Stout? I had it last evening & have been beating the drum on various social media outlets since. It's on nitro & super chocolatey - I honestly think it's a contender with Cowbell.

Fatheads leaning west, DL leaning east...thought central PA was good to give Pittsburgh some love--after the PB distro promise, but Troegs is forsaking us too (though likely CBC related):

Noticed that too (I do emails)...I laughed it off as there must just not be much going on right now...but maybe it is becoming a bigger thing that I've not noticed? I actually feel like they stepped up their accessibility to juju/hopstalker/IBUsive and the like around here this year as compared to previous years. So I'm not ready to get upset yet. If we end up getting shafted on a major release or something, I'll be the first to complain..

Think Mike has been trying to bring some uniqueness to PDX locale, make his own mark--not necessarily because of local feedback, but because he's been given liberty to make unique beers. Whenever I see a collab with Breakside or a sour, etc. out there, my jealousy bubbles because Pittsburgh does tend to get primarily the "traditional" lineup (though IBUsive has been less rare last two years, thankfully).

And because they don't brew in Pittsburgh, Cleveland is going to bogart limited beers to themselves. But agree that the general presence is weighted elsewhere at the moment--the involvement with the Cleveland trail system, the special events mentioned in the emails, etc. seem more frequent than do Pittsburgh events. We seem to be relegated to the September anniversary brunch and Brewer's Ball. Maybe due to core staff working to expand distro (thanks, Philly) and focus on organically growing sales?

I am resurrecting the whole WV thing. As someone who spends a lot of times in the outdoors in some pretty rural locations I cannot see where PA can make fun of WV. Some of the most puzzling acts of humanity I have seen happen within a 2 hour radius from Pgh. I literally watched a guy in Dunbar stuff trout after trout in his rubber hip boots for hours on the fly-fishing catch and release waters there on a warm day.

Back to beer, I used to enjoy the email updates from Fat Heads and I find them to be very dated and an afterthought (by them). Sad. I am close to clicking the unsubscribe. This thread will tell me if I need to be there.

I was born & grew up in one of the most hick-ass parts of the state. I love it, but there are shitheads everywhere.

EDIT: Wait, looks like Dunbar's in Fayette-nam, too.

What is it about that stream that it attracts the crazy folk? Granted ive never fished it myself but the ive heard enough stories of lunatics and of peoples cars being broken into or vandalized that i have no interest.

The problem with "policing" the Fayette-cong is that we the DCNR officers report them and they get court hearings their cousin/father-in-law lets them off the hook.

In all fairness I also ate at Pechins prior to it being updated in my chest waders once, so I added to the debacle that is Dunbar.

Old Pechins! Home of the 38 cents "hamburger."

Fishing pun?

We have a new IPA on tap called Bane of Existence. It has Citra in it and moderately high notes of burning garbage. Just traded 2oz for a case of Cantiloons and Hillshire Farms.

You're welcome.

Do I need to take any safety precautions if I was to receive a crowler of this?
