I get that but she said a purple label so I was showing you the label for that beer, dingus.

Gocean.... not terrible.
Care to elaborate? I know you've got some review skills...
Positives: Definitely not an overbearing smokiness probably because of the second use of the barrels. The Islay qualities definitely mixed well with the... nautical theme and the gose base. Specifically the brine and iodine mixed with the salt and sour. It wasn't really tart. There was a mineral note in the finish that drew on the oysters.
Can't say I got any caviar (which I don't think I've ever had anyway, but throw it in with 'salt') or seaweed. It was pretty thin and not really carbonated at all as well.
Your description doesn't make it sound any better than what I think it would be just from the list of dumb ingredients. I guess not terrible is the best one could hope for.Positives: Definitely not an overbearing smokiness probably because of the second use of the barrels. Has anyone had both this and Freigeist Abraxxxas? Wondering how it compares, since that's the first thing I think of when smokey and sour are mentioned together. It's a pretty polarizing beer for sure. Definitely not for everyone, but if you like smoke and sour together then I think you might enjoy it. Not going to knock your socks off either.
You're in the Pittsburgh thread. You can only like 1 thing or the other. Not both.
Stopped by Hitchhiker yesterday. Place was packed. Whole Punch Apricot was the best version yet. But the star of the show was 15th and Canal. Really hit the spot and the best IPA I've had from them. Hoping to see that one around as a regular.

Yes, I think you are right. APA. At 6.2% it's a bit of a tweener I think.15th & Canal is a Pale Ale I thought?

That's IPA ABV. But I guess would still be a pale if not dry-hopped? Don't know anymore.![]()
It's all the same, just marketing.
Thanks man, 15th and Canal was the first brew in Sharpsburg. It was not intended to be 6.2%, we got way better efficiency than anticipated, mashed lower than we wanted and got better attenuation as a result. This will be a pretty consistent offering. Dialing in the recipe and brewing it on Wednesday so the new batch will be back in a couple weeks.Stopped by Hitchhiker yesterday. Place was packed. Whole Punch Apricot was the best version yet.
