Some pest is killing my hops. I noticed some of the cones turning brown, so I pulled one apart and this little worm fell out.

What's the best way to protect the plants?

Plant a small garden with something the critters like more than the hops!

My first season I had insects galore. This season I planted a small 10 x 10 vegetable garden near my trellis, and unintentionally cut down pests by more than 50%.

Now if I could just them off my tomatoes...

Well, reducing the area of the production may give you a sort of relief from pest, yet it won't keep going for long. Besides, I would suggest you to get quotes structure from any bug control firm and request that they tackle the issue. I was actually having vermin issue in my garden. I'd called Pest Control Queens NY and they have done incredible job.
