You know, after drinking the first one, they don't seem THAT different. =c)
Looks like you brewed a Marzen and this is a Festbier? Finally saw it in KCMO today, but just the 1/2 liter cans, no mug (and not nearly the great deal I scored last spring).

But I did get to compare it to my homebrew version.......

I managed to be WAY off on color AND tasted. Even with my homebrew-bias, the original wins the taste test (easily). I'll try again next year (and use 1/10 the munich).
Make sense. Looks good!It was a Paulaner festbier recipe I found online, but I had to increase the munich ratio a bit based on what I had onhand.
Didn’t know where to post this, but here’s one for all you oktoberfest connoisseurs like me out there. I picked up a Paulaner mug/beer pack yesterday. It comes with a dimpled glass mug and liter can of beer for $10. The interesting thing is I think the beer is their authentic festival beer, not the oktoberfest beer they make for export. It’s lighter in color. The export is darker. Either way, it tastes great and the mug alone is worth $20 online.

I've never seen them in a German store![]()
Nope, I live far away from there. Do you remember the name of the stores? Chain stores carry the same stuff often nation wide.Did you look in Frankfurt? Two different stores carry them there.
One store was at the airport, in the lower level. It is a national chain grocery store. They always had a couple pallets of the Oktoberfest beers with mugs. The other store was more of a gift shop / souvenir store.Nope, I live far away from there. Do you remember the name of the stores? Chain stores carry the same stuff often nation wide.
These are special stores that are specialised in tourists, even when the stores belong to a bigger chain... That mug is actually pretty much a tourist thing. So my guess is, even if the stores are nation wide, they probably won't sell these everywhere. I am more looking for the beer than the mug, because all I usually see in the stores is Paulaner Weißbier, never Festbier. One store was at the airport, in the lower level. Don’t recall the names.

Downtown Crown Beer and Wine in Gaithersburg. They had 6 or 7 left when I was there last week.Where in Maryland?
Curiosity got the better of me so I went over to Costco this afternoon. They still had a bunch of these so I grabbed one. $7.89. It’s currently sitting in my garage fridge.Saw a large display of these last week at our local Costco. I didn't pick one up, but if they still have them next time I go in I'll grab one.
It’s a nice mug……you deserve it.You guys keep making me want to get that mug. But I keep talking myself out of it...![]()
Yeah, you've earned it.It’s a nice mug……you deserve it.
You got until Sept 17 at noon to find one!I gotta look for one of these.. cause I DO neeeed another beer mug.I'll find a spot for it, in a cabinet, or a shelf, or by the kitchen kegerator, or by the brewery kegerator, or that new shelf I just put up in the basement brewery so the wife could move beer related items from the kitchen into the brewery... yeah, I want it.
