Has anyone done this? I have a bunch of 1/2L bottles and would like to use them for this. Guess what I want to know is.. is the pasteurizing temp (165*) going to render the gaskets unusable for the next batch.. OR should I just go with regular bottles? My other option is a bunch of PET bottles I have from my Coopers DIY Kit. The downside of the PET bottles is.. I probably can't pasteurize in them. :-(

Flip a coin.. what to do.. what to do.. what to do??? Main question above is the Grolsch gaskets.. if any one knows.

I've boiled the grolsch gaskets before (not on purpose, but...............) and had no issues. I've also ran them though my dishwasher at 150ish (again, not really on purpose, but that's another story!) without any issues. I've only replaced a couple ever, and they've been fine.

Now, I don't stove top pasteurize anything so I can't comment on that. But the gasket won't be an issue!

I've pasteurized 1L flip tops with the stovetop method adapted to an outdoor burner and 100 QT crab pot and had no problems at all. Used the same bottles/gaskets at least 3 times now.
