I know it works great on carboys, but can it be used on tubing, thieves, everything, nothing else?

Thanks lots!

kegs, buckets ,underwear, auto siphon, airlock, underwear

I like to fill my primary with an oxyclean and put all the little stuff in there to soak on brew day. Occasionally I throw In my underwear to kill 2 birds with one stone. I made a porter called Mean Streak once...tasted pretty sh*tty

But seriously I've never heard of anything homebrew related you cant use it on

Everything brewing related. I keep a bucket of it around (rightfully labeled :), that was for jonnyrotten, although I do not consider underwear brewing related) and clean plastic, metal and tubing with it. Fermenters get a soak for 12-24 hrs after being emptied and rinsed with hot water.

Edit - I mix 3 parts oxy with 1 part TSP for my cleaner.

Ah yes! I do my laundry with it also.

Thank you all very much! I had a small batch go sour (way bad sour) and thus want to clean everything *really* well. Only one so far, and the ones I did before and after it are fine. (bottled some tonight) but still, I don't want to take any chances I don't have to.

Sounds like I could fill a 6.5 gallon brewing bucket and just put everything I want cleaned into it, sit for 24 hours, then pour it out and rise with hot water? Probably more than once to be safe.

Hmm, Can it be reused? Sounds like?

oxyclean can leave a film that need multiple rinses to remove sometime. I rinse until I cant feel the slime. I use a pretty small amount(barely covers the bottom of the scoop) for a 6.5gal bucket full and it seems to work just as well when soaking and it rinses easier.

I seen somewhere that there is not a real benefit to soak more than a couple hours, but extended soaks over night seems to work for me.

I would not reuse it.

edit: I have had vinyl tubing turn cloudy after a long soak so I don't do extended soaks on them any more.

I just stick my stuff in the bucket at the beginning of brew day and dump it out and rinse toward the end.. Always works fine. A good rinse as mentioned is key

Is there an uncented version of Oxi Clean available? All I can ever find is the one in the box with the little blue beads I. It that smells like lemon (at least I think that's what it smells like. )
