They are not infected.
They are part of AB's initial Sour program.
They worth extra because it was their first run. Kind of like a rookie card.
Or maybe its like a stamp, coin, or baseball card where they make a mistake? Those are worth way more too. Given that, this guy is practically giving those beers away.

This is pretty special. You can tell it’s bad because he’s justifying the price by saying “not available at retail outlets”

Someone should ask him to post a picture of the "euro cave" that these beers are being stored in. Something tells me it looks something like this:

I actually thought of grabbing one from the local gas station yesterday just because a it was green glass magnum and that label would cut right off (it's a wrap).
My Dad has an empty one of these in his garage still from waaaay back o_O

Also found a Pyramid Rollerick Amber Ale from 2009. Hahaha. Tasted more like apple cider than beer. We drank it all tho:cool:

What untappd badge were you striving for?

It would be kind of fun if Untappd added some badges for real beer geek deep cuts. Like, you can get a "Bad Beers Badge", but instead of that meaning stuff like light lagers and malt liquor, there's a pre-assembled list of beers that count like Bully Guppy, Dark Horse Lambeaks, infected Bruery ****, Indian Wells Raspberry, etc.

Anyone ever verify the legitimacy of any of these ... like someone actually wins and the winner is not a friend of the seller?

They are usually run using the drawing numbers from public lotteries like Powerball, so there's no way to scam the system short of just flat-out absconding off with the money and never shipping the bottle. It's not like the person draws paper slips out of a hat or something.

For the Lambic.Info raffle to benefit New Avenues for Youth, we literally drew names out of a pot specifically to avoid any appearances of impropriety. We had a bunch of boxes and tons of people with multiple entries, so using a number system was impractical to make it transparent without being confusing. Only problem with doing a random drawing like that was cutting the all the names out in their proper ratios was a pain and no international people won, despite strong international support.
