Was planning to add 1 oz of Magnum hops at the end of the boil. OOPS. forgot and added them at the same time as I added the yeast.

What should I expect as a difference? Should I still dry hop when fermentation is over?

I would rack to secondary when primary is over. You will get some lot of grassy flavors if you dont, and I would still dry hop. You will probably loose a lot of the aromas from the magnum due to fermentation.

Guess I could try that. Never have used a secondary. So it will really be somethging new. Thanks

Yeah at worst you'll have a very malty beer with some hop aroma and a little flavor but really next to no bitterness. If when you sample it after fermentation is completed and after you dry hop and it still isn't something you feel you'll drink 5 gallons of, idk if maybe you could make a "hop tea" to extract bitterness and pour it in. Craigtube on YouTube has a video on how to do it. Idk if that would work but it's an idea other than just dry hopping. But like the previous post, you'll have beer either way!

Not sure why you would use Magnum at the end of the boil. Magnum is a great bitter hop.
If you were using for your Aroma hop then you shouldnt worry to much.
Did you add any Bittering hops at the beggining of your boil?
I would not worry and let it reach its high krausen before racking to secondary. Any hop aroma will be blown off from fermentation. Just rack and add more hops and let sit for another week then cold crash it and rack again before bottle or keg.

I usually use Magnmu and Perle, but decided to go SMASH on this one to see what would be the difference. Yea I got the bittering in at the beginning of the boil. Plan was for the second addition at the end of the boil for aroma and then dry hop at the end of the 3 weeks fermentation. I've done this beer a few times and it's a great IPA but I just wanted to tweek it and see what would happen. Only 2 gallon batch.

Well I dry hopped it w/an ounce of Magnum for a week and then cold crashed it for a week. Bottled today and WOW, still a great beer. No grassy taste, bitterness is good. To cold to pick up aroma, will see what it's like in 3 weeks and warms up to around 40* to drink. Thanks for all the advise. Did not rack to secondary and I don't see any problems yet for not doing that.
