Just a quick note. Don't use your wine degasser for the first time in a topped up 5G carboy on high. Start slowly.

Wine holds A LOT of CO2 and it comes out quick when you blast that whip in the carboy.

And the wine comes out of the carboy quick too. :(
 
Oh no! I'm sorry to hear that you had a wine volcano. Hopefully, it wasn't so bad that it backed all the way up into your drill and shorted it out (which has happened- not to me, though).

Darn. Hopefully you still have most of your wine left.
 
wow, good thing you posted this, i was thinking about making wine, and i would have just pulled the trigger and not thought about it. thanks for preventing a mess at my house.
 
I was lucky that I had 5.5 G in a 6G carboy, topped off with CO2. Stabilized and put finnings in after the wincano. I'll rack to a 5G carboy for the next go around. With what I lost it should be plenty of room. :(

Just one more reason why I have a mop in the bar.
