Spoke to my brother in law yesterday and he should be able to wire up the Spa panel this weekend. It should be functional after that. Only piece I need to source is the Sparge arm. Thinking of going with something like this.

I was able to take one this morning. The compression cap would be on one end to allow cleaning and maintenance. Holes would be drilled on bottom side. I just smashed the end on mine to try out but you get the idea. Basically looks like a rain shower head when in use. First picture is under my cooler lid. These could be made to a number of sizes.

I'm not trying to sell you on anything but you can go compression to triclover. Just throwing ideas out there.

This is true. I do have some soft copper I can use to make one of these. Might have to do that.

Cant believe I just found the thread. We are working on a similar system but ours is single tier and we have not gotten near as far as you on the electric. Keep up the good work and looking forward to the first brew day. We are currently brewing 20-25G batches as we continue to work on the system.

I am lucky enough to have a brother in law that's an electrician so I subbed that out. I built the panel and mounted everything. Left the dangerous stuff to him. All it cost me was a red dot scope for his AR-15! He will be down on Sunday to wire up my spa panel. I should have a ton of updates this weekend. Here is my to-do list.

Finish up control panel mount
Mount control panel to mount
Build the hoses for the brewery
Mount the thermocouples in the kettle and HLT
Complete the kegerator. (Build of that is in the sig)
Wash all of my beer glasses and place them in new cabinet


I also bought two 4ft work lights. I am going to replace the single 60w bulb with two 4ft lights. Should really brighten the area up.

She is working all weekend so I have a lot of time to fiddle around in the garage. I'll start some stuff tonight, work all day tomorrow and most of the day Sunday if I need to. I should probably get most of it done tomorrow.

If all goes right. I should have a functioning brewery by the end of the weekend. Then I'll have to see what I can do for ventilation. Pretty sure she won't be too pleased with giant hood. Can probably just get away with opening the garage door.

As you can see nothing since 6/26. I feel bad about that but will be brewing and will try to update tomorrow. Have a huge order in with Zach at Stainlessbrewing.com for a custom hop strainer, HEX coil and some other parts. Looking forward to receiving the order. I think we are going to try and gather parts and sub the electrical work out but guessing that will take us a while. Things never seem to happen as planned.

So this weekend I got done:

Rewiring two receptacles and hanging two shop lights in the brewery.
Finished the control panel mount
Mounted the control panel
BIL wired up spa panel. ITS ALIVE!!!!!
Installed temp controller on fridge

Did some other various items. Overall a very productive weekend. Pictures in the morning..

Still have some minor things to tidy up. Also have to check the wiring on the one Thermocouple. Seems I have a wire reversed somewhere.

Right now I'm building a milling station. Going to be 3ft x 28". Going to be solid butcher block. Will also be a work table. I'm probably going to mount the motor and mill underneath, build a removable hopper and then be able to plug the hole so I can use it as a table when the mill isn't in use.

Did a bit of testing and calibration this weekend. Found a few small pinhole leaks in my soldering of the boil kettle. Plan on tidying them up this Saturday. I also still have to fix the temperature probes. Think I have wire 2 and 3 mixed up. I keep getting the wrong temperature. Going to fix that as well. Then I should be all ready for the first brew on Sunday! I can't freaking wait. It's going to be a long week...

Adding to the brewery, I built a butcher block table for a work area during brew days with a steel frame, It's a stout table! I also made a new mash paddle for the new brewery.

Thanks everyone. Did a bit more tinkering last night and made a sparge / recirculating arm. Only spent about half of what other places wanted and about 10 minutes of work.

I placed it in a bar clamp to keep it from rolling around. Once I got done drilling the holes, I wrapped a piece of sand paper around a dowel and sanded all the sharp edges off the inside, Don't want anyplace for grain to snag and clog a hole.

Going to start working on the CFC tonight I think. Then finish it up on Thursday.

Here is the CFC. I finished it up last night but didn't take any pictures. Came out great. Fingers crossed it doesn't leak.

Just an idea. I zip tied my CFC to the outside of a 5 gal bucket. Keeps the coils together and gives you a handle. Looking real good.

i did the same. drilled some holes up each side of the bucket and zip tied each coil in place. i keep all my hoses inside the bucket (since it's obviously not water tight anymore) keeps it from getting deformed.

Just mashed in. Temps running a tad low as I expected. Still gotta learn how she behaves.
