New beer, but the label is in the same style as Naked Ale, just like I promised. new text, new image, new name. I think pretty soon I'm going to be done experimenting and pick a couple of house ales, and I'll throw all the labels in one post, and then stop heckling the forum.

I love all of your labels you've posted so far; where did you get your background images from? I am looking at switching to a wrap around label like yours (since my black is killing my ink) and like the subtle images you have work well. Thanks pericles!

Motorium: Thanks for the kind words! I'm a big fan of the rectangular labels because I can slice 'em out with a paper cutter, instead of laboring over an oval with a pair of scissors. My friends are tough sells when it comes to home brewed beers, and as a couple of people have pointed out, for whatever reason, the labels REALLY help.

The background is mine, and just a bunch of vector graphics plus texture, effects, and transparency. The images inside the shield I poach either from my own collection of photos, or from Google Image. (The Naked Ale photo came from Google, for those keeping track.) I run them through one of a number of filters from Virtual Painter 5 and then paste them into background. Now that I've found a background I like, it only takes about 20 minutes to put a new label together!

If you like the textures, here's the procedure: find a print you like, and convert it to alpha transparency. Then paste it into a vector as a mask. (In Macromedia anyway.) You can download free versions of Macromedia from OldVersion.com. You used to be able to get them to keep, but they might expire after 30 days now. . . I'm not sure. I use the program from 2004, and have never wanted a newer version!

Thanks percles! Keep up the good work- I am going to shamelessly steal you idea, but also make it my own :) Hope you don't mind. I had made a template for my previous labels, but like you said, the ovals were a PITA as far as tedious cutting. I like yours because they are clean, simple, yet you have a lot of info on there!

If I had a capper you'd be getting some home brews in the mail, but I skipped that step and went to kegging and BMBF with swing tops...
