Old Notebook... What to do

Hello HBT! cleaning the room, I found my old little blue notebook, and thought "What a great pooter for lunix!" then i though "I could automate my brewing!" so, with that said, I have been reading about the brewpie some folks have been using and was curious if others have used an old laptop for this. I simply want to do these functions on my BIAB system:
-Regulate, Raise, Lower,Wort temp using my GAS burner (AKA servo driven valve)
-Turn pump on and off and regulate flow
-Regulate flow to achieve optimum temp during cooling

not to fancy just something fun. Has anyone doen this?

If you were able to integrate some form of controlling hardware this is very possible. Something like this ( http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0054U4YKI/?tag=skimlinks_replacement-20) will allow you to monitor what is happening.
