Hey there, fellow LoDo enthusiasts!

I've been using a DuoFiller (DIY clone) to fill my cans for a while now, but recently, I've been thinking a lot about the DO-levels due to the canning process. After some sleepless nights, I decided to develop my own automatic isobaric can filler, inspired by much larger commercial systems.

The system is working well, though it's not entirely finished in terms of surface finish, etc. Throughout the development, the idea of commercializing the product has always been in the back of my mind, so topics like CE marking and production line selection have been relevant from the start.

The system is completely oxygen-free from keg to sealing (assuming cap on foam). A lot of thought has gone into how to purge and fill without beer coming into contact with oxygen, at all.

In the system you can customize your filling cycle regarding purge times, number of purge steps, etc. The system has a web interface over WiFi and integration with Home Assistant via MQTT if desired. It features 7 valves, 2 pressure sensors, and an extremely precise flow/volume meter. These valves, sensors, and meters can be used for other purposes too, like electronic spunding, electronic CO2 pressure regulation, fermentation process monitoring (via the spunding function), etc. You can also use the flow meter for volume measurement when transferring to the fermenter. The possibilities are endless, and I've built other systems based on the same technologies that demonstrate this.

With this post, I want to showcase my innovation with a strong focus on LoDo and open up a discussion about the functionality, especially regarding purging. I've measured O2 levels in the can with single purge and different flow rates and times. You can achieve very low O2 volumes in the can before filling in a very short time. However, many advocate for multiple purge pulses, which I think just significantly extends the purge time due to the need for pauses between pulses for CO2 and O2 stratification in the can. My opinion is that if you can afford to use more CO2, you can achieve the same result with a short high-flow pulse (let the debate begin).

I've made some progress, and the system is now in beta. The software and hardware are finalized, including production routes.
