Do I take my OG reading at boil or with chilled wort?

Cooled wort. Boiling will screw with your hydrometer reading and you can't adjust that big a change

It's POSSIBLE to take it at any temperature, but temperature corrections are notoriously unreliable as you get hotter and hotter. Best bet is to measure at the temp your hydrometer is calibrated at - usually 60 or 66*f.

Chill the wort first.

Does 1.050 sound right for an American wheat
