Honestly I haven't paid too much attention to all the different Bretta versions...are all the other ones listed separately? Like Winter, Fall, etc? If so then I'd say yeah...there were even 2 different Summer citrus batches that used different citrus, from what I remember, so I guess even those could be separate check ins.

Why are IPAs showing up with vintages? I've noticed this with Double Jack, Exponential Hoppiness, and now Pliny the Younger. I'm sure there are more out there.

Is that something I can flag for merging, or do they want it that way?

What if it is a beer that the brewery keeps tweaking? For example, there is a local DIPA that is on it's 4th batch and each one has been a different recipe. My rating for each batch is different.

Also, what about hoppy beers that only brewed once a year, like wet hop beers? For instance, I thought 2012 Surly Wet was way better than 2013 Surly Wet. I've had similar experiences with Hopslam and other regular hoppy beers too.

New Brew Thursday...

My buddies and I joke about it. We're paranoid about forgetting to drink a new beer on Thursdays so we have a saying--"New Brew Thursday--making beer drinking stressful since 2008." I think I'm up for Level 14 today. I was curious how long it'd take me to hit Level 50 so I used Excel to figure it out and apparently I'll hit 50 on Thursday, August 30th, 2018--or almost 3 1/2 years from now. Starting from scratch, it would take almost a full 5 years to hit Level 50. No other badge is nearly as hard to level up on (and that's assuming you don't forget to drink a new brew every Thursday--something I'm sure we've all done and been annoyed by).

Just makes me wonder--why is it so hard to level up on this one badge??? Is this on purpose or did the developers not realize it would be so daunting?

I notice it takes 5 weeks (or 35 days) in between badges so it seems you have to go at least 30 days even though it's possible to have 3 new brews 28 days from your last level up (21 days plus one week from one badge to the next). Isn't there a way for it to give you a badge every 3rd Thursday you've had a new brew without making you automatically wait 30 days in between them (which actually causes you to default to 35 days)?

Just curious.

They know they just don't think it matters. Not every badge is supposed to be trivial to get. I mean, how long would it actually take you to get to level 50 of the Mexican badge? I'm not even at level 2...

The "I Believe in IPA" badge used to be an absolute bitch when it first came out. You had to hit certain IPAs each month to get it.

Yeah, the list of 5 beers from every corner of the country that you had to get and drink in a month was fantastic. That badge was utterly impossible to get without trading, and annoying even with it. Then the guy broadened the list, then they just made it all IPAs. Now it's probably one of the easiest badges to get.

Not really. It was easy as hell to figure out thanks to Excel. I don't chase badges anymore, but this is one I still try for only because I drink so many new beers each week/month anyway that it's just extra annoying when I forget/don't on a Thursday. Plus it always seemed like it took way longer to level up than it should--now I know it does. Whatever. Beer.

You guys are dedicated! I can't even remember the last time I had 6 of the same beer in the house to work on that badge. I also never foresee myself earning the "Usual" badge, for the same beer 15 times in 30 days.

I have trouble with the "Risk Taker" badge -- drinking 10 recommended beers in 60 days. It's impossible to keep track of the recommendations, and the recommendations seem completely random, only partly based on the style of the beer you checked in to, with no regard for regionality.

Which is why I don't pay much attention to the reminder anymore. I can't keep track of how many Thursdays I've had a new beer. I just like being told to drink beer, even if I never do on Thursdays, for whatever reason.

I drank 6 bottles of Delirium Tremens for that badge. Totally worth it. Also I earned the "Usual" badge in one night.
