310 Beerz got together for a little Pappy barrel-aged tasting on Saturday night. Thanks to DCLAguy11 for hosting and to Coolioman, Rado, drewone and all those not on TB for the contributions.

This was the voted order from left to right. I wasn't there anymore for the vote, which explains why K13 wasn't further left because I'm a Voodoo fanboy.

Cheers!

If you were there for the vote you might have moved K13 one spot to the left at most :)

Crappy pic, but had a great share yesterday with SocalKicks, LSUPT, angry_lobster, peterdactyl, and some others not on here. The theme was BA barleywines mixed in with some stouts. Not quite as epic as the dontdrinkbeer barleywine tasting, but I think we had a fun lineup.

2014-12Tasting.png

Personal highlights:

- A'A'Ron: Worthy of the hype. Loads of dark fruit, sweet molasses, but not cloyingly sweet. If I wasn't such a homer, I'd probably agree with the others that it was best in show.
- A Deal with the Devil (2013): Huge toffee and caramel, delicious. Would love to get a bottle of the new batch if it shows up.
- Great: Still my favorite, but I'm an unabashed homer.
- King Henry: Drinking great if properly cellared.

Disappointments:
- The K13: Amazing nose, but the flavors felt disassembled and didn't really work well together.
- Leon b1: Straight cognac.

Other observations:
- We should have had more sours and saisons to breakup the big beers. Chez is still drinking phenomenally well. Nonna's Blend #7 was a delight too.
- Strangely enough, the Kuhnhenn Bourbon Barrel Barleywine tasted a lot like Alpine Good to me.

Great tasting with old and new friends last night. Happy Sunday TB!

We heard a local bar had Abyss during the tasting and found out it was 2009! It was the non-soured version and pretty tasty.

Highlights for me were probably Double Citra (still my favorite beer), 2013 MILF, and the DDH Fort Point. Opened the Fen Tao because the bottle my new friend had traded for apparently tasted like burnt rubber and I wanted to make sure he tasted a good one.

Had a little tasting last night with acurtis axeman9182 BenTenison KevyWevy markgugs MKtheGeneral OsLovesBeer RobErazo smo smonice Timmush and Trady. Took down 67 bottles and two growlers, as well as eight dried sausages and three wheels of cheese and three pizzas and 14 taylor ham egg & cheese sandwiches and three entire jars of pickles and an entire tray of TalkBeer Bourbon Brownies and cookies and pie.

The food might be more impressive than the beer which is saying something.
