Had a friend from Texas come visit for the passed week. He brought a ****-ton of beer along with him so we dug in as soon as he got into town. Heres a bunch of pictures from over the last week.
Warning.. Many pics to follow..

Many other beers were tackled, including a trip to Tired Hands, Neshaminy Creek Brewing and oodles of Carton.
Always great to see a long time friend who is as into beer as I am. Had a great, drunken, stoney week.

Always a favorite.

This is my first time with this guy. Actually was bottled in July, but still had a good hop punch left. Eager to try this fresh.

Yes, this is real. Otis made a trade with one of his regulars for a case of Odd Side's Bourbon Barrel Imperial Mayan Mocha. His guy sent him this among other gems. Basically what happened is this guy took a sixtel of 2012 BCBS, added cherries and vanilla, and aged it. The result was nothing short of incredible. Easily one of my favorite BCBS iterations to date.

Batch 4. Such delicious jammy goodness with a solid sour punch. Awesome.

Big tart cherries amplify the sour funkiness.

Solid barleywine. Still has a lot of hoppiness despite being bottled in February.

Good porter with a vanilla spiciness. Interesting stuff.

This may look like regular BCBS, but it's actually French pressed with toasted coconut and pure Madagascar vanilla extract. Just amazing. I thought this was slightly better than the cherry vanilla BCBS, but Otis and GRDave gave the edge to the other.

Smells a lot more sour than it tasted. Decent.

After that, we busted into some bourbon/scotch/whiskey:

I'm a bit of a bourbon newb, but Otis was nice enough to bust into some for us. I'm told this is really good stuff, but I'm still at the point where I'm trying to find some of the subtleties of the bourbon underneath the heat.

Cask strength Elijah Craig. Can't have too much of this stuff, haha.

This is one I actually really liked. I managed to start to smell and taste some of the sweeter subtleties that are more prominent in barreled beers. I've been told that, with my taste preferences, I'd be a scotch fan, and so far I can't disagree.

Also pretty good. 2/2 for scotches. Opened up a bit for me as I let it sit.

Always wanted to try this since I'm a fan of Dragon's Milk. While I couldn't taste any remnant of DM, I still thought it was good. It'd be interesting to try this alongside DM to see how they compliment each other.

Had a great time with three friends Saturday night. Not pictured is a 2L Abner. Highlights:
  • Night Shift Darkling was great
  • Pappy Eclipse was smooth as can be, but still Eclipse. I love Eclipse, so I'm fine with that. But it didn't blow us away. I wonder if this one would have been greatly improved with about twice as much time in the barrel?
  • Sue is very good now and I think will be even better in six months. A slightly more citrusy E. and it could be very special once the brett takes over a bit more.
  • Art is fantastic. So much barrel, it's stupid. I still think Flora, Ann and Le Sarrasin are on another level...but Art is definitely worth the chase.
  • Wicked Weed bottle disappointed. Metallic, odd. Didn't get a hint of fruit.
  • Should have let the Lambiek go for another decade or so...it's a fairly fresh bottle and it didn't have much going on.
  • 2011 Vig as a nightcap was intensely sour and so complex. Aged Vig is ******* magical, this is now a few times I've had it with 3-5 years on it and love it more each time. I'm going to see if I have the self control to let one age 5-7 years... This is unusual for me because I generally prefer Fou, St. Lam, LPK and LPF fresh and bursting with fruit. (But, I mean, I love them all aged too. ******* Cantillon.)
  • We didn't get to CD10, so that one awaits a future tasting!
Good times.

LPK 08-12: The 08 and 10 stickers were easily my favorites. 08 had that old lambic complexity starting to develop which I loved, 10 was similar to the newer vintages but the cherries weren't as intense and was pretty perfectly balanced IMO. Tough to pick a favorite, I liked them both for different reasons. The 09 was in a very weird place but that's the only one that was bought so I'm chalking it up to poor storage.
Special Herbs, West Ashley, and CD 10 were all amazing as usual. Resolute was thin and meh. I have no idea why CD10 is charging, I'm just happy I managed to get a picture.
Not pictured- growler of Sump, Green Diamonds, Zombie Dust and a few Heady. All were delicious.

With GRDave and Otis.

Not familiar enough with cognac to pick out what it's contributing, but tasty regardless.

It was good, but a bit disappointed as I expected it to blow my mind.

Floral funk and Belgian spice. Pretty unique and tasty.

Didn't really know what to expect out of an oat wine, but it was good. Again, not face-melting.
