Not everyone can be as amazing immediately like Russell Wilson. Geno is in a work in progress. That's exactly why they need to sign a veteran QB to mentor and push him. Jets failed miserably at that with Sanchez and can not make the same mistake twice.

don't get me wrong... and I'm actually being serious for a second... I liked Talib. I wanted the Pats to resign him and I'm a little bummed he left but: 1) I don't blame the Pats at all for not going into that neighborhood of money and 2) I don't blame Talib AT ALL for taking it.

My rambling point is that I don't get the comments I'm seeing all over the media about how the bronco's "added a big piece while the Pats lost a big piece" with Talib going.

Only reason I say that is that... the Broncos are losing Rogers-Cromartie. It's not like they have BOTH, Talib and Rogers-Cromartie... they switched out the players one for the other. Now.. is Talib better than Rogers-Cromartie?? I guess. maybe. Maybe a bit... but is it really THAT big of a huge jump?? I dunno.

Again... everyone is all power jerking it over how boosted the Bronco's D was when they added Talib... which... given Rogers-Cromartie is now leaving, I'm not sure I get.

NOW... Ware???? okay... him AND Talib??/ sure... but that's not what everyone was lathered up about.

and besides... I'll take Revis and Jared Allen any day (and yeah... expect the Jared Allen signing annnnny time now).

They also added tj ward from Cleveland along with chris Harris opposite of Talib. They've got the makings of a solid D but the Donks are going for broke this year no way, with all that money going to a few peeps as old as they are, they keep that team together after this year.

Whats surprising me is the Pats not doing anything to address the wr position. Are they really going to rely on Amendola and the 2nd year players to shore up those holes?

The Donks have no choice but to go all out this year. How many big dollar free agents do they have on their roster in the last year of their contract in 2014? They either pull off a championship in 2014, or they're done, because one way or the other, they're rebuilding for 2015.

Why aren't the Seahawks making many moves? Oh yeah, I almost forgot, they already have a championship team. I didn't really almost forget you guys.

Tom Brady can turn any scrub into a pro-caliber WR or TE, right?

I sincerely hope that Edelman signs with the Jets only so that I can hear Belichick forever refer to him in press conferences, interviews, etc as "the receiver" since he'll be forever dead to him.

I don't get the joke.

His cap number is $11m this year. Zero chance the team is paying him that... so he asked for his release.

Okay. Bye.

Where's the "bwahahaha" part ?

It's like sad laughing. Cause they are still paying Sanchez

The "Bwahahaha" is yet another key Pats player being released or not resigned and the utter relief of not facing a player who has absolutely destroyed my team year after year after year. If you think you can just replace a player of Wilfork's caliber...go ahead. Add that to the growing list of players that the Pats need to replace. Perhaps Louis Nix will be waiting for them at the end of the first round...

Who exactly is on this "growing list"?? Talib?? Yeah, I think they've done decent with that situation. Edelman?? And Wilfork who is going to be 34 and is coming off a shredded ACL.... and wants $11mm a year.

So... Again. What fcking "growing list" are you freakin talking about??

You're trying way too hard.

Back on topic. Seahawks still won the Super Bowl, but barely. Lol.

No reliance on a field goal kicker required when you build a team from scratch and don't play high school talent all year

Let me enjoy this Cape. Wilfork has been a beast for the Pats and has been undervalued by the team. He's easily been the best defensive player on that team for years now. One injury (OMG an achilles injury) and they're ready to move on? Unless Belichick can get his daughter on that line there is no in house replacement for a player like him. Brady turns 37 in August, and realistically has two more seasons to compete at a high level before the decline starts. That has nothing to do with anything, it just gives me joy to point that out.

How the fck has he been "undervalued" by his team?? The guy is one of the highest paid linemen in the league. What the hell are you talking about?? If you want to lube up a little over the fact that Wilfork is probably done in NE and the Jets are only going to lose by 34 points instead of 37 points to the Pats every time the two teams play... have at it... but at least have some of your points based vaguely in reality.

(and apologies...you're right, it was the achilles... not ACL like I said)

The guy is on the wrong side of 30 and is coming off a serious injury... that... for a 300+lb lineman who clogs the run, is kind of a big deal. Do I want to see Big Vince go?? Fck, of course not. You're right, the guy has been an absolute monster for the Pats, a total class act, and the fans absolutely love the guy. Of course I don't want to see him go. But the question is... "Do you take an $11M cap hit for a 33 year old, 300+ lb lineman coming off a significant achilles injury"? No. You don't. Period.

The Pats want him to stay and restructure his contract to spread the cap hit out a bit. He is refusing. So he's probably gone. The Pats have a well-earned reputation for not letting emotion play into negotiations. It sucks sometimes but that is a big reason why they have been as competitive as they've been for as long as they've been. Dollars are too tight to pay guys because you really like them and they're great soldiers for the team. It just doesn't work that way.

And don't even try going down the ridiculous Edelman path... cuz we heard all of that bllsht last year... "Ewwwwwwww... is that the Patriot Way?? Letting your top receiver walk you cheap bastards! You're never going to score any points without Wess Welker, the greatest receiver in the history of anyone who's ever caught anything".

Please.... The Pats replaced Welker with a 5'10", 7th round pick who was a freakin' QB in college.

Welker 2012 w Pats: 118 for 1,354 and 6 TDs
Edelman 2013 w Pats: 105 for 1,056 and 6 TDs
Welker 2013 w Broncos: 73 for 778 and 10 TDs

The Pats paid a sht-ton less for Edelman than the Broncos did for Welker and how horribly did the offense suffer?? They scored the third most points in the NFL. That's after losing The Murderer for the entire season and Gronk for half of it.

Same with Wilfork though... do I want to see Edelman go?? No... i don't. I like Edelman. But... if he can get some other team to pay him a mountain of cash... have at it. NO hard feelings and I don't blame him, but the Pats are going to pay what they think the position is worth... and slot receivers in the Pats system aren't worth that much because they believe they can take a 7th round QB and turn him into that position. Plus... they'll have Gronk back (if he can stay effin healthy)... Dobson should make serious strides this year on the outside and they still have a ton of time in FA and the draft coming up.

I'm not remotely concerned about effin Edelman... and still think your "growing list" is ridiculous.

"undervalued"... that's awesome... I just looked it up to make sure.

There is ONE player on the Pats roster that makes more than Wilfork... Tom Brady.

freakin' "undervalued"

Amateur.

AND WHILE I'M AT IT........

more on the mountain of bllsht around Welker leaving last year... remember when everyone was jizzing all over the keyboards?? "ewwwwww good luck replacing him Pats... Belichick's effin EGO is sooooooo insane that he thinks he can just cut everyone!!!"

Effin Danny "China Cabinet" Amendola and Edelman combined for 159 catches for 1,689 yards and 8 TDs last year versus Welker's 73 catches for 778 yards and 10 TDs.

... and the Pats paid Amendola AND Edelman, combined, $4.37M versus the $4.55M that Welker made on his own. So the Pats got double the catches and double the yards for LESS money... and the insurance contract of having two guys who can play the position in case one got hurt... which... happened.

The Bronco's have Welker on thier books for $8M next year... the Pats have just Amendola on the books for $4.5M....

"Oooooooo Belichick and his ego!!!!!!!"

You funny guys... you make me laugh.

Effin Danny "China Cabinet" Amendola and Edelman combined for 159 catches for 1,689 yards and 8 TDs last year versus Welker's 73 catches for 778 yards and 10 TDs.

China Cabinet only had 633 yards and 2 TDs. Only 2 TDs playing with the greatest QB of all time? Who a ****ing joke!! Edelman had 1,056 yards and 6 TDs and he used to be a QB! China Cabinet was signed as a direct replacement/upgrade to Welker. Welker's 2013 numbers look pretty damn good next to China Cabinet's and Edelman's not on the team anymore. You're stuck with China Cabinet as your replacement not just for Welker but Edelman now.

... and the Pats paid Amendola AND Edelman, combined, $4.37M versus the $4.55M that Welker made on his own. So the Pats got double the catches and double the yards for LESS money... and the insurance contract of having two guys who can play the position in case one got hurt... which... happened.

The Pats signed China Cabinet to a $28.5 million contract over 5 years. In 2013, base salary + bonus + misc led to a cap hit of $3.575 mill.

Edelman had a one year contract with a $765K cap hit.

Welker's 2013 contact, base salary + bonus + misc led to a cap hit of $4.15 mill.

In what world is $3.575 mill + $765K > $4.15 mill?

The Bronco's have Welker on thier books for $8M next year... the Pats have just Amendola on the books for $4.5M....

Welker's contract expires after 2014. After that the Broncos and Welker can walk away clean. It's a pretty smart contract.

China Cabinet is signed through 2017. His cap hits will be:

2014 - $4.575 mill
2015 - $5.575 mill
2016 - $6.575 mill
2017 - $7.575 mill

China Cabinet has shown that he can't play a full season. Not even close.

China Cabinet was signed as a direct replacement/upgrade to Welker.

No... he wasn't... he AND Edelman were.

And how did it work out?? Who put up better numbers?

I'm not looking at "cap hit", I'm looking at SALARY.. what the teams PAID them.

You can try to freakin' twist it out your azz any way you want but at the end of the day, the Pats PAID Edelman and Amendola less than the Broncos PAID Welker last year and got better numbers and the flexibility out of them.

... and as has been brought up a few times... you, a freakin JETS FAN, are really going to knock a team that's effin' OWNED the division for the last 13-14 years over "bad contract negotiations" ??? Are you fuggin HIGH??
