Do any of you bargain hunters know the periods of the year when Northern Brewer offers their 20% off discount? I’m guessing maybe Father’s Day is next?

I’m looking to make a pretty enormous purchase (~3k) and want to time it appropriately.

If there’s any other deals out there that compete with theirs I’d also love to hear about those as well.

I think NB’s got 12% off today but I’m holding out for the big 2-0. I’m in no rush.

When I google 20% off NB I’ve gotten the same thing but it doesn’t carry over into the cart. I think it’s an old page they accidentally left up.

Discounts are offered almost weekly by the online stores...if you signup to receive emails. Sometimes at least once a day. (Use email filters to keep out of your inbox--mine go into a "Beer" folder with sub-folders depending on the sender.)

Northern Brewer, Kegerator, Brewers Hardware, Midwest (ads similiar to NB), etc, etc. I don't buy much online, but like to see what's new or on special. I buy local, but still get the occasional odd item online.

One of our LHBS just redid their web & social media presence and are now regularly posting info on new products they carry.

I'm not sure what you're purchasing, but I would recommend looking up old sales to see what's excluded. I initially planned on waiting for 20% off to buy a sack of 2-row, only to find out coupon codes don't work on them.

As for when the sale will come, it's tough to gauge. They had a deal where you can get 3 kits for $22.99 each, and it popped out every two months. I thought the normal schedule would bring it up in November, or early December at the latest - and I was waiting for that deal to let my wife know what I wanted for Christmas. They wound up skipping the deal altogether until about a week ago (and it got raised to $24.99/kit then). On the bright side it worked out well because she bought 3 kits of Morebeer, accidentally ordered All-Grain instead of extract, and that led me to convert to BIAB.

Don't think there is a specific time of year. They just pop up from time to time. Northern BREWER just had 20% off last week and they do it several times a year, without rhyme or reason! You can always call them they are a great company to do business with.

Sometimes the 20% at NB will work for full sacks of grain. I always try the codes with grain to see, which makes it pretty cheap being shipped for free...

I got a 20% off site-wide coupon emailed to me last weekend. I placed a order with them although I typically order from Morebeer. Although their coupons are never valid on grains but I mostly ordered hops and yeast to use it.

A lot of times those deals don't work on some things like blichmann products etc..... so, make sure the item you want actually can have the sale applied to it. Generally, you are not going to go get a brew system for $3000 for example and get to use a 20% off coupon in your cart. Black Friday is probably your best bet for some of the biggest item purchases I would guess.

There is almost always thing discounted by Northern Brewer. And there are ALWAYS items that are excluded. Blichmann for one. They don't allow their items to be discounted.

Although don't order if you need something fairly quick. It took them 3 days to fulfill my last order and get it out, then another 5 days for UPS to deliver it. I usually get stuff much faster from other online vendors. Morebeer is really fast. Usually out the same day then 2 days in transit from their PA warehouse to me.

Yeah a lot is excluded, grain being one of the most annoying. When I ordered from them recently with my discount code it was mostly hops and yeast and just enough to get to the $40 free shipping threshold. Interestingly, they always seem to have Falconers Flight hops on sale for much cheaper than anyone else. I want to say it was like $6 or $7 for 8oz even before my 20% off.

That said, I rarely order from them.
