i am beginning to setup my AG 3 tier gravity beer rig and was planning on using 10gallon rubbermaid coolers... i just recently found some kegs already cut and plumbed for home brewing used for nearly the same price as new coolers
my question is... which is going to insulate my heat better in my mash tun? will it be hard to keep a steady heat in the keg/cooler? (im assuming the cooler would work best)... i am in southern california so i dont get any really cold or really hot weather, but i dont want to worry about keeping a steady heat in my MLT..
also, is it worth trying to do 10 gallon batches (when i get that far) in the coolers? or should i just buy all the kegs now since i have the opportunity? i am just worried about doing 5 gallon batches in 15 gallon kegs
any input would be highly appreciated!!
